With one day left until the Lakers' preseason opener, head coach Luke Walton hasn't yet decided on a starting lineup, but he does know that he plans to put out plenty of combinations during Tuesday's matchup with Sacramento.
Unlike during the regular season, Walton says that winning won't be the primary focus in the exhibition in Anaheim, as he will instead focus on spreading out playing time and finding coachable moments.
He doesn't anticipate anybody playing between 30 and 40 minutes, giving him opportunities to toy with lineups and try to answer questions like whether either Julius Randle or Larry Nance Jr. can guard centers.
“We’re gonna try different lineups out together,” Walton said at the team's El Segundo practice facility on Monday, “see if we can find a small lineup that works well together or find a big lineup that can switch everything.”
After six days of training camp in Santa Barbara, the Los Angeles Lakers returned to their practice facility in El Segundo for their final practice before their first preseason game...
yeaaa, it looks like they may have spent a tad too much time on defense in camp. lol, they do not know what's going on in regards to running the offense. Good thing the season doesn't start for 3 more weeks, we'll be solid by then.
Note: you see DLo joking and laughing with Swaggy as Swag's running up the court.
-Nice to see TRob attempting some good passes. Looks like he is playing the 4 in this clip.
-Zubac runs the floor extremely well. Is hitting jumpers with ease.

-D-Lo & JC are going to be a dynamic backcourt.
-Swaggy even doing the little things.
Good stuff but man do we have a LONG way to go but I'm still cautiously optimistic. ........ GO LAKERS!! .........
What good would that do? He can't sit out his entire rookie contract.
Based on various things I've heard - having a video crew following him around, to this - IMO Simmons needs new people.
Going back to before the draft that was a big concern of mine with Simmons. Has diva written all over him. Embiid is a diva as well. Okafor too. A dumb one

Really. I'm telling you LG has not changed with these advanced scouting reports In my opinion you can never spend enough time on practicing DEFENSE _________________ Winning is all that matters!!

Hopeful those events are in the rear view because once again the "root" of most of this crap is simply culture. If Ben Simmons was a Spurs rookie, there are no camera crews following him and there are no agent whispers. It's not really about Buford or Pop, but the whole organization, and most importantly the players. My guess it became very clear very quickly in the San Antonio locker room how one was expected to conduct themselves.
I know its just words now, but I am hopeful our guys are beginning to figure out that a winning culture is built in the locker room, behind the scenes, and is simply about each guy being accountable for themselves and to each other.
In recent years, our culture has been a joke, and that blame is spread out....the FO, Coach, and even Kobe. Seems to be on the upswing at least from the outside.
hen it comes to the team improving in the wins column, these things are less important than tangible results on the floor. And of all the ways the team can really take positive steps forward, the area which has the most room for growth is on defense. The bigger the strides, the bigger the improvement in team record we will see.

Haha you know it. The comment wasn't meant to be a dig , simply an observation that the offense looks raw.

The execution is really raw, but it's nice to see a center able to catch and finish a lob pass

very true Nash. Moz is a huge upgrade on both sides of the ball.
also, we should get scrimmage footage from today's practice..
Ball is moving and guys are moving without the ball in this scrimmage more than a whole season under Byron
Yeah this scrimmage had a real game atmosphere. Guys seem to be getting more comfortable in the offense. Yi looks slow and lost.
Yi needs to roll harder to the basket after the pick too and work on boxing out but he'll be okay. Defensively is where I have concerns.
Calderon looks refreshed, I'm glad he basically rested during his Olympic stint. He is an asset.
