Big connotes size of the male genitalia, which is insensitive and misogynistic.

Why is the correctness only political?

Should be human correctness. SMH.

It's funny how being selfless, and respecting others has become "too pc" by so many people. Its just so much easier to be selfish and rude, people hate working a bit harder to be nice.

You just called a bunch of people selfish and rude, that is not very PC. Pedestal brought down.

The current claims of being too PC seems to be, "I'm too lazy to hide my bigoted views." That's this election cycle anyway, with the white supremacists remarks from trump.

B.S.

There are a ton of people perfectly willing to express bigoted views and still considered perfectly PC. They just happen to be bigoted against white people or men.

But if someone refers to a little boy as a boy, stop the presses!

Pretty much. It sometimes gets taken too far, and people shouldnt be overly sensitive, but it's certainly better than the alternative.

In terms of it being a problem?? Anyone who think this is a problem has never faced a problem.

Social media has made it very easy to be an absolute a-hole with no consequences.

My personal take on PC, US had the moral high ground for so long. We were the nation that was inclusive, tolerant and respectful of people's rights. We were the nation that followed the rules of engagement when the enemy fought dirty, the nation that gave new comers aka immigrants the best chance to succeed, the nation that protected its minorities. Feels like we're moving away to a different attitude and this election accelerate it

We're still by far, the least homogeneous nation in the world. Having lived in various countries and being a biracial US citizen, it is a weird thing when you go to other countries and they don't understand the basic idea that you can be asian, or hispanic, and also still American.

Peoples desire for political correctness is the problem. It's become an epidemic where people ask questions and are offended if they don't receive politically correct answers. They express outrage and faux indignation if they receive an honest answer to their questions as opposed to a politically correct answer to their questions. It's the pinnacle of childishness.

I tend to agree. I don't know what people are thinking when they list it next to some of the more serious problems:

Because, as ironic as it seems, it is divisive.

There's a point after which people feel like they're walking on eggshells. That's when the problems start.

Most Americans do not know how ridiculous the country has gotten but anyone who is not from the States and comes to the States or Americans who have lived abroad a certain amount of time notice that EVERYBODY is a professional victim in the states now.

That's why it's very easy to bet on China becoming the dominant world power. The US is done. Nobody with a "woe is me" attitude gets anywhere in life. Do you think Obama had long stretches of beating himself up over things and thinking that the white man had it out for him? He cancelled out the noise. That's why Obama is Obama.

There are tons of Indian CEOs out there? Why? Indians cut out all the drama and go straight for the top. Meanwhile, Asian Americans (I am Asian American) complain that there is a glass ceiling and they can never become an exec at a big company because of the white man. Now, with this attitude how many Asian Americans will become CEOs? Probably 0. You know why Indians become CEOs? Cuz they don't give a (bleep).

Nowadays, everyone is hurt by everything. You're either transgender, gay, minority, have some medical ailment... you're too fat, too skinny... you're just something. And when someone says anything remotely against what you perceive yourself to be, you go on the attack.

The US is done. Nobody succeeds with an attitude like this, whether whatever your grievance is true or not.
