Robinson would be good for us, he's quick enough to guard 1s and he can shoot the 3 as well as drive. I read this morning that they're now willing to move Lee, Robinson, or Ariza, but not Frye.

We could move Odom for Mo Taylor (almost $10mil. expiring after next year) and any 2 of the three guys mentioned above.
Taylor would actually be very good offensively in the tri while freeing up an extra max slot in '07. (approx. 25 mil. under the cap in '07).

yea lets throw away the season. Heck no with that deal.

Lamar is underated. PPL are obsessed with scoring and dont look at the simple things in basketball.

1. rebounding

2. ability to find the open man out of double teams.

3 initiate the offense so Kobe can play without the ball

these are Lamars strengths. We need to keep that.

werent you all for him being traded a month ago?

I'd love to get Frye on the cheap. He's a MONEY shooter from 15-18'. Maybe willing to give up a guy like DG for him.

Kobe's 81 was mostly against Mo Peterson, some Mike James and some Rose.

Point taken his D is not great but his offense is and so is his clutchness.

Plus our capspace looks alot better next summer.

If Rose can't be traded with another player then do two seperate trades.

Rose for Lamar and Frye for Slava.

<-------- one of the 5% of posters on here who actually liked Frye leading up to the draft

Of course I go to UofA, so feel free to point fingers at my bias

I'd love Frye. Not sure I'd part with LO for him though.

Nate + Frye = interesting, and tempting for LO, but still a nix from me.

Oh and Jalen rose is a dinosaur.

How exactly does he fit into our 2 or 3-year plan?

Would have taken him for half the MLE if he was an amnesty casualty.

Out side of that I'd rather eat Kobe's left shoe than see him in the PnG.

The Knicks situation makes you feel better to be a Lakers fan. I can't figure out if they have a plan. Thomas keeps bringing in big contracts, and though they have a few young talented players, you'd think Brown would be all for a quick fix. They may have to look for a quick fix, cause Brown could bolt any year.

I'm one of the few that support Odom now adays, and I'm mad at times because I expect more from him. In the longrun, that pipedream of a 2K7 free agency year would become more likely with his contract gone. I don't want Jackson to burn out on young guys, but if you can get Nate Robinson and Frye (throw in Mo Taylor) for Odom I'd be happy actually. You'd have to throw in Smush or Sasha, likely Smush though. Maybe the Knicks sweeten thing with a pick. If you can talk them into a 1st rounder in 2 years, I'd at least listen. I don't think this is throwing away Odom for a song, but with all this talk of not being athletic, it helps to get these young bodies.

In 2K7 you'd have the following under contract:
PG Robinson, Sasha
SG Kobe, Wafer
SF ?
PF Frye, Turiaf, Cook
C Bynum

Then you'd have your choice of resigning any of these players: Mihm, Brown, McKie, Walton, Green and maybe George if you get him to re-up after the year. You'd have cap room to make a big run at a free agent, or maybe more importantly you have the young players to make a Garnett/Bosh type trade.

I don't seriously think Mitch will take a risk of making this team younger and taking away Jackson's initiator, and I don't think Brown trades Frye. I am saying though, that this looks nice on paper, and though this could knock you a step back (maybe an 8 seed instead of a 7th).

well i just happened to come across this...i dont personally want this to happen, lamar is impressing me with his recent "gutsy" play, and i think there's still a slim chance that he can be that initiator/3rd guy for the next Laker Dynasty, plus I don't want to get too many young dudes for veteran "stars" like Lamar, because Phil is only here for a few yrs tops, and we need to maximize that...

I agree but most of us are just showing that we are as desperate as the Knicks to improve our squad. Just a way to vent our frustration with watching bad basketball. Once you watch your team 3 peat and play in 4 out of 5 championships it becomes hard to watch scrubs and we will be venting even when this team gets better thats what Fan nattics do.

Frye, Rose, and future 1st rd pick for Lamar, and Slava. Frees up even more Cap Space for 2007-08 plan. Larry Brown gets the player he called during the Olympics of 2004 "The Best player on the Team" over Duncan, Iverson, Wade, Lebron, Marion, Amare, etc.

Comeon guys we are getting ahead of ourselves with all this trade circus. Lets stick to the original plan of picking up Chris Bosh.

Whether or not a trade happens depends on how much Frye costs. He is ready to contribute immediately. Larry Brown would love to have Lamar Odom, but it would take more than Frye to get Odom. How about Odom, Slava, and McKie for Frye, Ariza, the Denver #1 pick in 2006 and Penny's contract? Penny's contract clears cap space at the end of this season, so the contract could be bought out to clear a roster spot. It doesn't hurt to have extra bigs to trade in the Summer. The Lakers would have only Kobe's big contract. When Brian Grant's contract clears in 2007, the Lakers would be in excellent cap position. If a draft pick is included, the Lakers could trade multiple picks and players to upgrade.
