This might be the first time I recognized a song from a GT vid. And that's only because it samples a famous jazz cover of a famous song, lol.
This is pretty encouraging, honestly. It seems like most things here are fixable; hopefully he's working on his defensive stance since it'll take time to make into a habit (that freaking hop... where do you even pick that up????). His awareness isn't nearly as bad as you'd have thought it would be considering he's had the, uh, privilege of being coached by Byron for 2 years.
BTW these videos are getting me through the offseason. Thanks, GT.
Very good stuff man. Now I'm excited to him defensively under Luke, hopefully he can be an average defender
IMHO, Part of Clarksons problem is that he's so focused on his offense and using that energy to score points... That as a result he probably doesn't have enough left in the tank to guard players. As you said with Luke, I'm guessing he's gonna make sure he has enough energy to use both which is another reason why Scott was such a disaster.
Seems like Clarkson hasn't gotten proper defensive coaching. Great stuff as usual. Your best videos are like time travel. I'm instantly taken back to moments when I watched our piss poor brand of basketball unfold night after night. lol
I would rather see JC score 15-16 ppg and be an average NBA defender over him scoring 20 ppg and playing defense at last year's level. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

He has the tools to play good defense, just look how he's aware of were he needs to go to score, he has good sense so becoming a good defender shouldn't be a issue.

hmm, Yinoma alluded to the same thing -- and I can't say I know what kind of motor/stamina Clarkson has. We'll see this season. It'd be really cool if he had the motor to be a two way player.
Really hope his 3ball takes the next step, as well as his slashing. And of course his defense. I'm excited to watch him this year, big improvement is in play

Agreed, really hoping Clarkson goes for the MIP award, especially if the workout over the summer pays off.
Excellent point about his hopping not allowing him to recover. I would also like to add that someone really needs to teach him line of sight, meaning stay between your man and the basket. He has a terrible habit of running behind his man mindlessly without using angles to cut off driving/passing lanes from both the guy who has the ball and the guy he is defending.
I also thought your remark about it seeming like they weren't doing any communicating is very key if they want to become better defensively as a team. They need to communicate and be organized on both ends.

That's mostly what I noticed last season. It was the headless chicken defense. One play to the next the approach would seem to scatter and change. Honestly, Randle comes off as bad as Clarkson does in that video.
If you like LFR videos, like and subscribe to them like I have/do. I really hope he continues to create these videos long term or at least all season, it's great content and we should sub to show that we appreciate them.
