I just hope we are able to find value signings this free agency instead of overpaying for marginal players. We wont be in a position to attract the superstars (KD, Steph, Griffin, CP3, Lowry, Hayward) and it would take a major overpay to attract guys like Holiday, Hill, Gallo, Ibaka.

hope we skip all those guys.

Why? are we really in a great situation to skip talented players?

everybody in the nba is a talented player. but they are mediocre. so we skip them

If they are mediocre, what are our current players?

2nd worst NBA team can't skip anyone.
We only have to hope someone wants to sign for the Lakers.

those guys will want max or near max contracts....and they will get it, but from teams that consider them a final piece.....none of them are players to build around.

The FO goal is to win championships & not sign mediocre players

Not at all, is to win games now and fast.
One of this year worst NBA teams can't seriously plan to win championships.

People were acting like we were too good for DeMar DeRozan last year, man.

I'm pretty sure that was mostly Dave, and the fact that he said Clarkson would be better than DeRozan this season should tell you all you need to know there.

Magic and Pelinka actually seem to think it will take them a while to rebuild based on the comments they have made.

They might be making PR comments, which is what a lot of NBA FOs do when it comes to showing there plan.

Everybody can. Better to wait and sign right players then sign guys like holiday/Gallo

Those guys don't move any needle. 1 of last year's, worst team had to overpay guys like mozgov/Deng.

We are in same boat this year. All we will get are contacts like mozgov/Deng. Overpaid scrubs

I don't see scrubs in that list, only better players than some now on the roster.

Gallo/holiday: injury prone
Ibaka wants max and is declining rapidly
G hill:31/32 and plays same position as DLO or the player we might draft.

So again no thanks

wait till 2018. Cousins, PG13

Yep I agree.
I hate to say we need to punt but given the unlikelihood of adding great young talent (like Hayward/Blake/Noel/KCP, I hope the FO shows some patience. Of course I would try, I just don't forsee us having success with the top tier guys.
If we can move Randle and Clarkson off the roster, and at least one of Moz/Deng (hopefully both), while keeping the core of (DLO/BI/Zub/Top 3), plus role players (Nance/Hou pick/moderate priced FA role players), we could possibly be ready to swing for the fences in 2018, and nab 2 of Westbrook/George/Cousins, to add to our improving young core.
Of course I listen to all offers for any of our players in trades, no one is untouchable to me.

The Lakers aren't gonna punt cap space, there gonna try adding talent and you don't need to be a star to have talent.

Reasons getting a top three selection this year are important:

3: the 2019 pick to Orlando turns into two 2nd rounders
2: we get a great 2017 pick
1: there is not incentive to tank 2018 b/c the pick is unprotected.

Add ibaka to pg13 (assume an Ingram/Jc trade) and draft ball?

Ball
Dlo
Pg13
Jules
Ibaka

Much more competitive than another team with 19-22 year old starters. Fight for the playoffs and build off foundation (just took ibaka as an example).

If we going to parlay something like that I am totally fine. But in isolation I don't want the 4 players.

That was my point, missing the playoffs for a 4th straight year, calls for changes.

I don't think the new FO is going to patiently rebuild. They will move some of the young assets imo. Just hope we get a good deal. I don't think they want a 5th consecutive missed playoff.

My gut tells they will make moves this summer to shed salary in JC and potentially Randle. They will also look to trade Mozgov and will trade picks and JC with him to clear cap room. That will set the table for getting not one but potentially two free agents in summer of 18.

Gallo is exactly what we need.
A big tall SF with 3P range that can attack the rim and shoots FTs at more than 90% clip.
Very good defender and can play PF too.
Only 28 y.o.
