No. We can stretch Deng and not lose assets or have to take a ball stopper like Melo. |
Except stretching Deng saves 10m for 3 seasons, not 17m for 3 seasons..
It also means we'd be paying him like 7-8m for 4 addt seasons then the 3 left on his deal. |
You stretch him after the season begins and stretch two years of salary over 5 years. About $6 mil + against the cap. And you don't stupidly lose two assets while adding a player who doesn't fit with the rest of the team. |
Doesn't he have 3 years x 17m per left?
That'd be 51m / 5 years = 10m per year against the cap over 5 years. |
No, he will have already been paid for year 2 of his contract, leaving only 2 more. So it would be 34 mil / 5 years. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Not going to move a needle until Ingram enter his prime. I rather keep the pick and our young core and sign PG next year. |

I hope not, we would be getting reamed with that trade. Big time overpaying. |
Personally wouldn't do it. But with all the rumors floating around. I'm wondering what the best case scenario is.
Indiana is gonna just accept Randle and JC....Its gotta include the pick or Ingram/DLO and I think at this point I would rather lose the pick. |

That'd be 51m / 5 years = 10m per year against the cap over 5 years. |
He has three years at 18 per year average (54 total), but if you stretch all three you do that over seven years (double plus one), which would be 7.7 mil per. You have to do that before September. If you do it after September you apply the full current year to cap and can stretch the last two years (36.8 mil) over five years (a bit under 7.4 per year).
All that said, if the Lakers are going to stretch Deng' s last two years, I doubt they waive him this september and accomplish the same thing as they would just keeping him on the roster until next off-season. _________________ “We must always take sides. Although I disagree this team wouldn't move the needle.
I agree about keeping the core together....However, with rumors circulating of Magic wanting to make the deal I'm thinking likely scenarios. |

You only deal for Paul George if you have another all star lined up in FA otherwise it's just a waste |

Assuming we get a top 3 pick, it, Clarkson and maybe one of our 2nd rounders should be fair. The last top 3 pick traded was Wiggins, and it brought back Kevin Love. I think that is on par with George. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Sure he can be a bit of a headcase but I think part of that was from playing in a toxic environment in Sacramento.
With the culture Luke is trying to build here I think he would be very successful if we could get him in 2018.
He is arguably the most talented bigman in the league and we have always built our championship teams around great centers. |
Cousins was the toxic environment in Sacramento. After he was traded they turned things around and finished the season well. Addition by subtraction. Keep him far away from our young players. And our last championship built around a big man was 15 years ago. Notice no other teams have won with that strategy, it is obsolete. |
Exactly. Willie cauley stein turned into a legit center and skal labbisiere came out of nowhere to be one of, if not the most, exciting rookies in the league. On top of that the kings team only incurred one technical foul after cousins left. Let cousins ruin another team. |

For sure if that's the case Top 3/Clarkson/2nd rounder that's best case scenario....
Although, I'm not sure how Ingram, Randle and PG all fit together but its intriguing if possible. |

Bulls are going to lose this series and they will need stretch 4.
How about rondo for Deng?
Before you freakout and say no to rondo, please remember his contract is not guaranteed and had team option.
I only want that contract and not rondo the player |

Isn't Mirotic supposed to be a stretch 4? Wouldn't they rather re-sign him than be burdened with Deng's contract? |

I just checked and your right, I think it's a good trade, Deng goes back to his former team.. with Bulls fans behind him. and we get a PG we can use if Ennis doesn't come back or we just waive him and save 14M in flexibility. |

Deng has a lot of close associations with the Bulls franchise, he is way more known there then Mirotic is and he would actually feel comfortable playing in a envorinment that he has experience with. |

Was love on the last year of his contract? Honestly don't know, just asking. Also love was held in much higher regard when he was traded 26/13/4 and some claimed him to be a cusp top 5 player. George isn't close to that. Also it made sense for Cleveland because they already had kyrie and the best basketball player at the time, lebron James on the team and were a contender. The lakers don't have anything close to competing like that. Totally different situations between George and love trade. I don't think George as is, on his final year isnt even worth a top 3 pick by itself much less add any other asset to it, especially since we're so early in the rebuild.
