Not the UCLA back court I was envisioning, but I'll take it

Shot 41% from 3.
Not sure what his defense is like at age 31.

I say Lakers attempt to make an offer for Hayward.

Utah made #5 seed with Hill, Hood, Hayward, Favors and Gobert, provided they had some bench depth as well.

But 2017-2018 Lakers squad could potentially look like this:
Ball, Hayward, Ingram, Randle, Lopez.

On paper that could at least be a #7 seed potentially, provided everything progresses in right direction and Ingram & Randle's game improves. Lopez is going to be much more of a contributor to this squad than Mozgov would have ever been. Lakers would essentially just need another shooter off the bench. Lakers would still need around 8-million to offer Hayward a contract, but that is where Clarkson contract comes into play.[/

Hayward and George reportedly want to play together... if you could trade for PG by sliding him in Clarkson + Randle + 27 + Black salary then sign Hayward, we'd have the start to something pretty special and still have cap space next summer if we stretched Deng... let's say for Cousins?

Cousins/Zu/Bryant
George/Nance
Ingram
Hayward/Hart
Lonzo

Love Hayward, but George isn't going to come here to play the 4 IMO.

Like George but what if he never makes it, go after Hayward now....figure out a lineup later...

What's funny is that, Brook is easier to move than Moz right?

Just a question cause I don't know about the the cap space and all that, if we trade Randle and Jc for Pg can we sign Blake this offseason and sign Lebron next offseason? I know it's far fetched but money wise does it work?

Not at full price, but maybe if Griffin was willing to take a small hair cut. Like $22-$24M.

True. And I hate to say it but Hayward is better by far than JC, soooo, do we trade him for a pick? Don't know but I'm sure we could clear enough to grab him, that is, IF he wanted to come. The Celtics would increase their hate level, lol...

Lakers only have ~$19M in capspace this offseason. Need $30.6M for Max slot, so need to clear another $11.6M to sign Hayward.

Besides, you probably want to save some of capspace for the (unlikely) PG13 trade which probably be unbalanced with more salary coming in.

If we could, the added bonus is it would piss off Boston fans ... always a plus.

Why are you guys talking about Hayward. He's not coming here. And besides that I'd rather have Paul George. Paul George and Hayward play the same position right?

Well, giving the lakers are putting all their ships in 2018's summer, this is what i got for this years free agency(basically all on short term deals, 1 plus 1 or whatever):

PG's

Daren Collison
Livingston
Shelvin Mack

Wings:

CJ Miles
James Johnson
Ian Clark
Jodie Meeks
Justin Holiday
Anthony Morrow

Bigs (although there's no need really)

Dewayne Dedmon
Mike Muscala

Maybe we can go for the big fish and try to sign Blake Griffin though

Provided this is the roster when FA starts, there are two routes to land a descent free agent SG.

As others have said, you can absorb a guy like Danny Green. Any sort of 3 and D type that would relish the showcase situation is welcome. Maybe their former team casting them off motivates them, especially a guy like Green who may have some drop off coming fron a great system to a good one in progress.

The other would be the guy not getting the deal he wanted and using the starter minutes and Lonzo hype to showcase themselves. Waiters would be ideal, but he likely gets a solid ling term deal. More likely, a guy like Justin Holiday may try to parlay the opportunity if he doesn't get a big payday. Wade on a buyout would be worth trying for but he's the big wildcard. Doubt Chicago wants to hand him to Cleveland, so I wonder if the team's can work something out. Like I wonder if they'd have room to take on Wade if they gave up Booker? Anyway, I think they end up with a guy like Danny Green and maybe Mack as a neutral backup PG to help along with Lonzo.

I doubt we will even get a meeting with Hayward. Rumors are he's interested in Utah Boston and Miami.

Like I mentioned before, maybe try a sign and trade with Utah if it's obvious Hayward will just bolt to Boston, leaving Utah with nothing, Randle or Clarkson, maybe throw in one of this year's rookies, a future pick, some fillers to make the numbers work.

Chris Paul To Opt Out Of Contract

Quote:
A tweet from ESPN’s Marc Spears says that, while Paul is expected to opt out, he hasn’t formally told the team or filed with the league at this point.

5:20pm: The Clippers have been informed that All-Star guard Chris Paul will decline his player option for 2017/18, Brad Turner of the LA Times tweets.

Probably right though I think Mark Bartelstein is his agent who also reps Nick Young. Pelinka should at least get a meeting. It would at least be good practice for Magic/Pelinka.

Hayward probably going to stay in Utah. He has built something really good with that team. Hayward maybe just using other teams to assure Utah gives him max. If Hayward is serious in moving, why not LA. We also could offer Utah some compensation by trading them JC. We need to move his salary anyway.

Boston are going after PG13. Let's go after their FA target. Besides, a Hayward sign and trade would likely cost Lakers less compensation than the PG13 trade. If Hayward is goint to leave Utah, Jazz would be incentivized to get something back.

Hayward and PG13 are both only 27. Both great 2-way players. Fit great in Luke's system .... imagine Hayward/PG13/BI/Ball together.

Seems about right. Gasol to GSW though? Interesting. What cap space do they have to offer him? If Spurs trade Aldridge, then Gasol would be needed.

What about Griffin going home to the Thunder. It's crazy to me how they never added anything but young pieces to Durant and Westbrook. If the Lakers drafted Durant, Westbrook & Harden we'd have three more championships by now and those guys would still be together.

Read somewhere that Hayward is waiting to see if Utah re-signs George Hill. If they do, Hayward probably stays.

Also, if Chris Paul stays with the Clippers, I don't see why Griffin bolts to somewhere like Miami. Playing with CP3 has to be more optimal for him than playing with Dragic, unless CP3 is more overbearing than everyone thinks.
Only way Griffin leaves is if the Clips lowball him, and I don't see Ballmer doing that.
