Would be PG13 + 2 out of Jules/Brook/KCP.
But it seems PG13 doesn't want to come here without a 2nd current star. |
then one or two of our guys need to step up to become stars this season, or several of them show they are close |

But would he reconsider if the Lakers had emerging stars?
IMO he might. If a couple Laker players can show significant improvement and overall a team trending upward and competitive, I think the argument can be made he might.
Gets to be the face of franchise marquee free agent instead of the side kick. Gets to join a deep team with options and likely a longer window. This is assuming he decides that OKC is not a better situation. Which it very may be at the end of the season.
Up to current roster to prove their worth and for the team to at least compete for the 8th spot if not. There are a lot of moving parts in this. |
If he and Westbrook get in the WCF then we don't have much to offer. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

It all depends on the WB experience. If he enjoys having the pressure taken off him, then the Lakers will need a star to bring him to the Lakers. If WB is too much of the sun/moon/star, then maybe PG13 will want to be the face of the Lakers and the 2nd star isn't a requirement. Who knows. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Maybe, but remember teams will corner the Lakers' desperation if we don't unload the requisite cap space this year. They know our plan and will attach a premium for dumping cap space. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I think this is the most likely outcome unless we want to do something drastic with Deng's contract.
IMO between Ingram, Ball and KFC and or Lopez there should be enough star power here in LA to lure PG. Plus you get to play for Luke who is a good players coach.
IMO Ball is going to change the atmosphere of the team and make it a desirable destination again.
Some of it will depend on how well PG gets along with the MVP. If Westrbook hogs the bill like he did with KD, I think PG will look to leave. But they might hit it off. Who knows at this point! _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss |

Regardless, the Lakers seem to be operating under the presumption that it's necessary to be able to get 2 max spots in 2018. Phase 1 of 3 has been completed (getting rid of Moz).
Phase 2: Deng
Phase 3: either JC or Jules, maybe both.
Result: 2 max deal space. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

probably the most overrated Laker player on LG....not saying he is bad, but at his best, he is getting rotation minutes on a mediocre team. |

Nance and Kuz can hold down the PF spot. Defense would be much improved.
Plus if we are getting either or Lebron and PG, they can both man the 4 spot. _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss |

Nance is older than BI and more of a finished product. BI has great upside that Nance doesn't, so I don't think people are overrating BI.
I agree that Nance is a backup/rotation player and not starter material. |

Yeah, KD did mention that it was hard to co-exist with the human triple double on the floor as a reason he left to play with the unselfish passing Warriors. _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss |

Re: Nance, i absolutely want him on this team.
Great teammate/lockerroom guy, the Rick Fox of this team. I don't think he will be expensive to re-sign in 2019 either. He plays the PF/small ball C reserve role well. I don't see him as a starter due to durability issues, but as a reserve player, he's one of the guys i absolutely want to keep. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Per SHAMWOW, Ramon Sessions, 1 year deal at minimum to the Knicks.
Pretty slim pickings and a huge difference from 2016. Almost wish we never had 2 max slots for 2016. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Sure, he'll get PG13 some great looks. Just not when the game is in the balance. I'm a huge UCLA guy and have seen the best and worst of Westbrook even back when he was in high school. Russell has never been a true PG and he has and will forever struggle on when it's his time to take the shot and when it's someone else's on his team. He rarely ever played PG at UCLA even though it was going to be his pro position. It'll be interesting to follow OKC and if there is any chemistry between them. |

PG13 has enjoyed being the man on the Pacers. But he also didn't enjoy the losing. So now he isn't the man and he should win more in OKC. Will he accept that compromise? Maybe, maybe not. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

When I look up Nance and Randle's numbers... it backs up what most of you are saying... that LNJ's better as a backup... not sure if he's a starter.
But I think if Ball is the real thing, Nance's athleticism and defense might better complement Ball. We won't know this until pre season... but I have a feeling Nance might flourish the most, provided he's given adequate minutes.
I know Julius is strong and fast... but it just seems like Nance is better suited to be a Worthy type finisher on the break. Also, I think Nance in general just lacks confidence and swagger... if he played with the same mentality that Julius did, I think he'd be an even better player. |
