how about because he wants to win more.

And how do you figure, that we are some kind of mediocre team next year? If he joins a contender for instance, there is a chance he doesn't get enough minutes and might end up being stuck on the bench like some of the vets that decided to join a contender... remember what happened to T-Mac with the Spurs? |
Wade would definitely start in Cleveland and be given as many minutes as he wants. Neither of those would happen on the Lakers. |
JR Smith has something to say about that and Korver and Shumpert behind him there is no minutes there. |

Nor would he contend for a title on the Lakers _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

So you don't include Smith / Krover and Shumpert? He ain't gonna get any consistent minutes there and there is also Rose who might play at the 2 spot in spurts. |

Cleveland situation is bleak, at least the Lakers have a positive culture around the team, Just cause they got Rose doesn't mean there gonna be collecting a bunch of vets... no one with a mind would want to go to the Cavs with a dark cloud over that franchise. |

Wasn't LeBron James just voted as the one most players want on their team? I think you're greatly underestimating the numbers of players that would choose to play in Cleveland this year if they had the chance. LeBron's in Cleveland for the year at least which is all Wade would join for. Cleveland is still in championship or bust mode as long a LeBron is still on the roster. Any move that Cleveland can make to improve their chances, particularly one that doesn't sacrifice future assets, will be made. |

So it's $103.7mil, with two max FA's and either Clarkson or Randle. Can we just leave it at that and forego the page after page of cap scenarios ?
I just don't get some poster's obsession with absolute precision in our cap status.
$60mil is enough to get two players. If there's a player that wants to play for the team, but won't because for the first year he can only get 95% of the max, we don't need him.
CP3 and KD both took a lot bigger cuts than that minuscule amount. If LeBron wants to come to LA, a few million will make no difference to him.
We don't need to get rid of Nance, Zubac, Kuzma or Hart to give an extra million to a guy who will make $150mil in the next four years. |

I came up with something in the area of $104,534,468 with Randle's cap hold and Clarkson gone. It would be slightly less than that if Clarkson stayed and Randle was gone.
The $103.7 million is your number, not mine. |

If we somehow end up with a core of
Ball
George
Ingram
Randle
Cousins
I think that would be incredible. Randle upside is dependant on whether they can win or not. The biggest and most intriguing ? In that group imo. |

Though I have concerns about Boogie this is probably my 2nd or 3rd preferred option. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

A sign and trade for Boogie might not be a bad route either? Clarkson, Zubac, and a 2nd rounder or Nance for Cousins?
Idk, just trying to save money. |

Lakers going after Dwayne Wade after his buyout makes sense
Quote: | Right now, it makes a lot of sense for the Lakers to at least consider Dwayne Wade.
It’s been another roller coaster summer thanks to free agency, trades, and the annual draft. Chaos has been the theme for the last few seasons in Los Angeles, as the Lakers have failed to put anything incredible together.
This upcoming season will be looking to change that, with them also being one summer away from potentially landing multiple superstars. One of the stars on that list is none other than LeBron James, who will be a free agent and could be on his way out of Cleveland for a second time. |

Lopez is definitely an option for the second slot, it's 100% dependent on how he plays. That's another reason why the Kuzma Trade was so smart, we get a one year tryout. Signing him would also gives us more flexibility, as I doubt he'd get the full max. |

Hey.. not for nothing but.. Nerlens Noel is still a free agent... wanna try to throw the Room Exception at him or something? Cause I don't even think the Mavs have made an offer yet. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Lakers have the room exception and I'm guessing Noel wants a 20+M deal with long term security. |

What's the point? It accomplishes nothing and helps the Mavericks if he signs it. _________________ This game's in the refrigerator: the door is closed, the lights are out, the eggs are cooling, the butter's getting hard, and the Jell-O's jigglin'! |
