OKC is going to be able to compete with GS.

I like RW, PG13 and Melo as a better combo to compete with GS then Lebron, Kyrie and Love.

You won't be able to hide Curry as much when GS plays OKC.

Phil got Melo's trade value so bad. What a terrible trade for Knicks.

I'm a Melo fan but honestly, I don't think he can do what he used to. Phil brought down his trade value, sure, but Melo's play hasn't helped either. That being said, we are in for an excellent NBA season. SO many story lines and interesting situations to look out for. Cant wait for the season to start!

The off-season probably is going to have more stories than the season.

Hopefully we didn't "clear space" to commit long term to kcp and lopez.

This pretty much puts OKC back in the western conference top 4 teams.

It remains to be seeing if that's enough. We made it the NBA finals in 2004 but that superteam only lasted one season.

4th best team out west last year was the Clippers....they definitely won't be anywhere close to what they were without CP3.
5th best out west was the Jazz....they might not even make the playoffs this year.
Closest team that might take over the 4 spot other than the Thunder is the T'Wolves. They still haven't shown that they can get to the next level. Pelicans is an outside shot. So an OKC team made up of Melo, PG13 and Westbrook will definitely be a strong running for a top 4 team in the west.

Also interesting to see a team in OKC that traded away Harden because they were cheap, will they really pay all 3 of these guys? That payroll and luxury tax bill would be insane.

let's see if Russ will finally play team ball. Just not sure how he'll do it if he did not even bend over for KD and James a few years ago

Yeah, they traded him away to basically rebuild.

The league should be helping the marquee teams get back to where they belong, not making rules to handicap them.

Because the players know they bring value to the teams and not vice versa. Its a superstar driven league. Gone are the days where the big market teams could snap their fingers and all the best players will go to that team. Pretty much the last couple of CBA's changed that.

Then it’s no difference than tennis and golf, why even bother to have a league, just let them play 3 on 3 league year round, and see where the money come from then.

Well, Knicks have made themselves irrelevant with this move.....they will be worst than the Nets this season.

I'm not really worried about the OKC trades this offseason affecting LA's ability to sign 2 max free agents, one of them hopefully being Paul George.

I think Presti's just thinking "screw it, why not?" And with the Warriors out there, why not indeed?

It's a weird tandom though, George & Westbrook & Melo.

The Lakers will have their time again, it just isn’t now. OKC played the lottery game and that got them in a position of being attractive to stars. We will get there as well. But the league has changed, being in a large market can’t trump team potential. Players join up on small market teams to play with other stars, not to be in the big City.

I think so too. I thought Gibson would have been a better fit alongside PG13 because he actually rebounds and plays defense at the 4.

Whether it works out or not, it's always interesting to see star combos. I look forward to watching them.

I know a lot of Knick fans were done with Melo but let's see how they like the aftermath of what's left. Hopefully for them, this is the last wrecking ball of the Phil Jackson era. I'd like to the Knicks become relevant again.

OKC is going to be good but not good enough that they stay..

LeBron + George are Lakers. If next summer trading Ingram + Deng creates enough cap space to convince Westbrook to join, Magic will pull that trigger and WB will be here as well.

OKC is quite literally our experimentation platform before we're the next super team. Hell, maybe Melo will accept minimum money to be a 6th man type player.

The headlines heading into next summer and next July are going to be MASSIVE.

Bite your tongue, they won't give Ingram away for a 7M difference between swapping and stretching Deng. They may have to mortgage some unprotected distant picks, but they'll do that with whatever youth they have before they'll deal Ingram.

Sometimes you I wonder if that's your hope just you can see the new regimes two max plan fail.

Melo is a ball stopper and Russ isn't exactly a guy who screams ball movement. Not sure this trade really changes much. Great talents on that team, but I'm just not sure Billy won't just have them playing iso ball as he did when they had KD and Russ and did last year with Russ alone.

Yeah, I don't think OKC is going to challenge GS and keep these guys but man did they pull off a great offseason. Those stars were dealt for scraps.

OKC went from an afterthought to back in contention albeit still not good enough to beat GS. Once again the western conference is gonna be a dogfight.
