It looks like the Lakers already have $81M designated for next year. With a cap of $102M, that leaves $21M. So will the Lakers not be able to offer a max this year? Even if Blake wants to come here, will we be able to give him the money he deserves?

That includes young and black.

Black Salary is showing as guaranteed for next year. Does he have a special situation? But you're right abut Swaggy P, so we have A little under $25M in cap space. Blake Griffins max is $30M unless he is eligible for a super max, allowing him to get $35M.

7/4/17 — Tarik Black’s $6,655,325 guarantees for 2017-18. So we have till decide till that deal to guarantee next year for him or cut him lose without cap hits.

We would owe him $0 if we get out before this date? That would make a big difference.

Yes. Mitch set it up that ways so LA would have a few days of free agency to decide, and if they need the cap, they can walk away free.

Also a nice trade asset where a team can basically shed up to 8-9m of salary and then not guarantee Black.

Yeah, but they only have till 7/4/17 to do that so we might have to deal him on draft night.

Guessing that once the Lakers know the outcome of the lottery they will be working the phones pretty heavy if they land a top 3 pick. They will have about two weeks to work some "magic" or choose what to do with Black and that contract.

Then it just depends on the best deal they can get. Seems to be no secret that the Lakers are willing to trade for a marquee vet. It just depends on the deal and what they need to give up to get one.

Black's non guaranteed $7M might be interesting to another team looking to unload some cap along with their marquee vet.

If we can't get Griffin then we should just use that money for 1 year rental of defensive studs. I don't like giving up our young assets and worst gutting it just to get guys like Butler or George. I would rather wait for 2018 of which we can waive both Deng and Moz to get a chance at 2 big free agents. By then, we would have a better picture on which of our young guys would be the core ( I'm guessing Ingram, DLo, and Zubac) and go from there

I don't see him back as a Pacer next year.

There will be quite the feeding frenzy for his services this summer.

Lol, good thought out trade though, those kind of moves aren't even possible in the 2K fantasy league. But I like the effort

I'm guessing if we trade for Paul George we will get a promise on a extension so giving up some value isn't impossible, you can't low ball Bird.. he's a sneaky bastard.

Man, just have a bad feeling the Celts will go all in for PG13 this summer. They'll first take a go at Hayward and if that doesn't pan out, I see them moving for PG13.

That 2018 Nets pick IMO won't be as valuable as I can see the Nets not being a doormat next year.

Don't see how George makes all NBA this year:

Westbrook
Harden
James
Leonard
Davis

Curry
Thomas
Giannis
Durant
Jordan

Kyrie
Derozan
Klay
Dray
Cousins

This prob won't be the exact teams but who does George beat out at Forward?

If Bird doesn't trade George this offseason, I guess he could make All NBA next season...

I'm guessing he's mentally not into the game right now so he asked the Lakers to give him some time off with his family.

Like I said in the Deng thread- I am hoping all of this time off resting will help him get his legs back. Maybe he can come back next season with a spring in his step.

Yeah, I don't he's done physically, it's all mental with him... I'm still rooting for him if he comesback, he might be more helpful with a win now team.
