i would not be surprised if CP goes to the spurs. Hope hayward goes to east coast
Clippers/Utah wil be out of playoffs & we might get a chance to sneak in |
You should only be surprised if he goes to the Spurs if the Clippers have that big deal on the table, which is what this is all about. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

Gordon Hayward is either re-signing with Utah or signing with Boston IMO. _________________

If CP3 cares about his legacy then he should seriously consider the Spurs. If he doesn't care about his legacy of being the best player who never sniffed the conference finals, then by all means stay with the clippers and get paid. |

The thing is though, CP3 is the guy that came up with the changes to the over-36 rule, so it's obvious that he wants that big payday.
Spurs would have to move a lot of pieces to get space for that _________________ Kobe |

This CP3 situation with the Spurs reminds me of DeAndre Jordan when the Mavericks wanted to get Jordan then the last minute the Clippers collided and convinced DJ to come back to the Clippers..I expect the same go around this time. |

The media/radio that I listen to is telling me that Magic is being patient, knows that the young core has promise, is saving for the 2018 free agency and isn't desperate to move multiple young pieces. The fans on this forum all acknowledge the patience.

Actually, I'm more then ready to be patient if that's the route we take, but even if we decide to rebuild that doesn't mean we won't add impact players to make us better. |

This is going to be very interesting if CP3 does walk to the Spurs or anywhere else. How are you going to convince Deandre to punk out of a agreed upon deal, sell him on the clipper family then turn around and walk 2 seasons later leaving him on a lottery team. Cant wait to see this playout. _________________ “What is 17,505”

DeAndre can become a free agent after this off-season. If you're Chris Paul you gotta look at the facts. You're probably going to lose J.J. Reddick this summer. You previously strong-armed DeAndre into returning while likely promising him you'd win a championship together and haven't come close. What are the odds you convince him a second time? So if you're Paul and looking after this upcoming season you're very possibly seeing a Clippers team consisting of yourself, Griffin, scrubs, and not enough enough cap space to pursue a max free agent going forward. Will Doc Rivers get demoted or even fired if things don't improve? A lot of uncertainty going forward.
On the flip-side you have the Spurs. The embodiment of consistency. Popovich isn't ever leaving unless of his own accord. Kawhi is locked into a bargain contract for another two years. They've got some decent young prospects in Murray, Anderson, and Bertans. And to top it all off, they project to have even more cap space than the Clippers would after this upcoming season if Aldridge exercises his player option.
How much is the money worth it to Paul? |

Yep. We're gonna find out if he values the comfort and security of not just the obvious (more money), but of playing in the same place he's been in for a while...OR if he's like Durant and is deeply motivated by going to the place that gives him the best possible chance to win. I don't know how myopic he is compared to most athletes--because most athletes are really myopic--but he should know that the Spurs would give him a better chance to win something meaningful. |

The interesting thing about CP3 and Spurs is the Spurs need to hope Gasol declines his $16m option which I don't think he will.
So Lakers step in and absorb gasols last year contract and Spurs toss in a draft pick or two, then Lakers immediately flip those assets to Brooklyn so they take mozgov.
Just like that Moz is gone, it didn't cost us any asset that we currently have and gasol will be expiring in 18, and can immediately be the zubac mentor, and all is well in lakerland as we are monster players now in 2018 FA |
