Most people are going to react with wait and see approach. No point in getting happy about it now.

true.

Randle will be a huge plus on the team if he gets that jump shot locked in.

Wait and see. Or trade this kid - he's peaked. After 1 full season.

Glad to hear that he's putting in the work.

Well sure. He already has a jump shot. Heading in to last season there were practice videos of him sinking 3 after 3. Making them in games is a different animal.

Anthony Brown is supposed to have one too. We'll see.

True, we was hearing the same thing last season, with there even being hope he might have a little 3 point range.

Luke is like that parent that no matter what you do tells you you're awesome.

Byron is like that parent that tells you it's not good enough, try harder.

Good news. If it wasn't improving i doubt Luke would've mentioned it.

That's the key to Randle. Everyone is focusing on DLO and Ingram but Randle may turn out to have the biggest impact on the team this season.

this is such a misleading thread title but based on who wrote it, I'm not surprised.

He said he's happy to see Jules so focused on it.

Assuming everyone read the Medina article?
Luke said JR is making more jump shots. Does that mean he now has a jump shot?

Randle was one of the worst shooters in the league last year. He could improve and still be terrible.

But his FT% gives reason for optimism. I think he'll start knocking them down sooner or later.

Yep. What does he mean by "but there is a fine line obviously" ? Does that mean that he doesn't want Randle to be a jumpshooter only or does that mean that his jumpshot isn't great either ?

So everyone wanted Julius to have everything in his arsenal in essentially his "rookie" year? Got it.

Nevermind the Kobe Farewell Tour and Byron's, well, whatever it was did net us Ingram in the end.

My point is let's be hopeful for the kid's future. He's in the upper echelon of his draft class already. Let's see him incorporate a jumper into games instead of expecting it to fail from the go. Guess what? It will probably be a work in progress like much of our youth.

I don't see anyone expecting it to fail. Let's just wait and see, we haven't seen it yet. I think everyone hopes he's gonna have a reliable jumper. He's gonna be a problem if he has it.

I really hope this is true, I'd really hate to see Mozgov and Zubac shooting 10-15% better than Him on shots outside the paint. Randle has some tools that could make him a very good NBA player, but without a jump shot, he will become one dimensional on offense. Now show it to us starting in the preseason!

I hope so. A 10-15 foot jump shot would do wonders for his game!

Where did you see the word "focused" in that article?

Even if Randle, is just working on his shots, we all he's gonna start knocking them down with regularly.

I was about to say that. There's nowhere in the link saying that Randle "has a jumpshot".

So much of that, IMO, is about confidence.

I'm sure everybody is working hard on their jumpshot. The question is: has his shot improved??
A lot of things will be on display in just a few short days as training camp will reveal a lot more than we know right now.

Obviously 2.0 created a pointless thread lol, but we know Julius has a revised one motion jumpshot. And we've seen him knock it down a few times included 3's in the team USA scrimmages.

In other words it's apparent he's been working on it. We'll see how long it takes to manifest in NBA games

Quote:
“He’s put a ton of time into his jump shot and making a lot more of them, but it’s a fine line obviously,” Walton said. “He’s so good at getting to the rim and pushing the ball in transition. He has such strength and quickness. But you still want to use that to your advantage in being able to rely on the fact you can knock down jump shots.”

The exact quote. And no, it's not new news, but encouraging none the less. However, the "but it's a fine line" comment has me wondering if Luke doesn't want him taking jump shots. This would also be encouraging as it means Walton recognizes his weakness and would prefer him playing to his strengths then trying to force up jump shots.
