This season is giving me very similar vibes to the mid-90's squad:
The youth full of potential, looking to prove themselves and bring respectability back to the Lakers' brand.
I love being that underdog again.
But I'm digging the current situation much more than the 90s, mainly because of Luke and this awesome staff. The new culture being developed is just wonderful. From "The Breakfast Club" to the Luke/Dlo lovefest, camp hasn't even begun and you can't help not be drawn in to the positivity being generated from the guys!

Hmm, through pre-season I'm not sure. I think Russell will improve through the season as we get better and more comfortable running the offense, he'll end up looking soooo good.
And I do think either Nance or Randle will be most improved. Although Russell and Clarkson could also be most improved. |

This team has more potential then the 90's Lakers and I'm not trying to be a homer.
This current Lakers team can be scary good. |

Didn't really realize it but this will be the first season I'll watch the Lakers without Kobe rostered on it.
Started following the team in 1998 while in college, became a hardcore fan by the time I moved down to So Cal in 2001.
Interesting to see the identity this team will take. |

You will get used to it.
I became a fan the year Magic was a rookie and as anyone else I was shocked with the HIV thing, but that is the way the things are supposed to be, the players retire and the franchise go ahead.
The tough part for me is three straight years in lottery. I'm not used with all this losing and sometimes it drives me crazy lottery happy millennium fans and their love for unaccomplished young players on a loosing team.
We didn't win in the 90's, but the team competed hard, had good and funny players to watch while last 3 seasons I didn't see a lot to enjoy.

Russell will have a 50 point game this season. |
I agree.
I've been saying this for a while. He is going to go OFF this season the the point where everyone is like Porzingis who |

If Russell plays like he did in summer league.... All Star? Just thinking Lakers fans would get him there. I'm going to the pre season game in Vegas against Golden State! |

instead of Porzingis who I hope it's Karl-Anthony-Towns who... especially if Russell goes ham on the league. |

lol....gotta love it when the geezers go into 'I remember how things used to be back in my day when apples only costed a nickel' mode. _________________ “Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God. Same here. Became a "serious" fan in the 2003-2004 season, so this is gonna be unfamiliar territory for me. But in another sense I'm pretty excited. As much as I'll miss Kobe, I'm also happy that the franchise is no longer handcuffed to his presence. It'll be a complete paradigm shift in a positive way. I believe in the young talent on this team, but I believe in Luke the most. My confidence in him is as intense as the lack of confidence I had in Byron. _________________ “Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God. Cant wait really. Result is not really important in these preseason games but everything else for us is important. We have new coach, lots of new players so few really important games ahead of us. |
