If Blazers (if they keep the pick) took Gerald Green and we swap picks with Hornets, which PG would you take? Why?

I would go for Felton though #4 for Felton may be still a bit high. Reason why I would take Felton is his strength and defense over the other two players. Deron Williams is slower and not as great of a playmaker, and Paul is a bit undersized defensively. Many would probably disagree, but I am also relying on the Carolina factor. NC products has provided Lakers with their fair share of goods in the past.

Paul.

Wouldn't take williams with the 4th pick (rather have Felton or a non guard like Green - or trade the pick again for an established/proven player)

Oh well! There is a rumor on NBAdraft.net that the Hornets have guaranteed Deron Williams a #4 pick if he's there. Perhaps that might explain a possible trade between the Blazers and the Jazz to swap #3 and #6. Deron Williams may go #3 overall. If that happens, the Hornets may either trade #4 or take Chris Paul. Green would fall to #5 if the Hornets are inclined to go with a PG. Since the Jazz would already have Deron Williams at #3, and the #6 would be in Portland, that pick is likely to be Webster at #6. Felton would be available at #7. #7, #8, and #9 would be interesting, because of Frye. Wright's stock is supposed to be up. Granger had a very good workout. There is still some chance of Felton falling to the Lakers.

Because Felton is overrated.

He has big problems getting through screens and that is going to kill him at the next level. Sure he has speed, but he has problems staying with his man and reaches/fouls too often. He hasn't shown he can be a stopper. He even needed a zone to protect him in the tourney.

He is not a good finisher or passer, and he plays out of control too often.

Give me Paul or Williams any day. Or better yet, Gerald Green.

I wonder if it is more a matter that they are impressed with Deron Williams, or disappointed with Green. The Hornets seemed high on Green in recent times.

I just had an odd thought. What if the Hornets decide that Webster is the next Glen Rice? Might they select him using the #4 pick? The Hornets had some success with the old Glen Rice. If Webster goes #4, what are the implications?

Bucks Bogut
Hawks Marvin Williams
Jazz Deron Williams
Hornets Webster
Bobcats Paul
Blazers Green
Raptors Vasquez
Knicks Villanueva
Warriors Frye
Lakers Felton

You have got to be kidding me. Paul i sclutch, has speed, and just the overall intangibles. He could be a future star.Felton will not be. He may be a great role player, but I'd rather have the player with star potential. Paul is also better in the half court offense.

PAUL --

Particularly after he measured 6'1 in Chicago. . .

It does not coincide with a Phil reunion however. . . .

I think that's the real hold up w/ Phil . . .

JBuss wants a roster with a STUD PG. . . which conflicts with

Phil's triangle and offensive philosophy.

So what you're telling me is that Felton has a problem that is easily fixable during his first NBA season, something that requires a simple mindset change on the floor from a decent NBA coach?

Yeah, real big problem there, getting through screens.

So he has excellent speed, quickness, and lateral mobility, but has problems staying with his man? Nope, not really. And yes, he does foul too often sometimes. But of course, again, that's something that's easily correctable at the next level. Mindset change. And a minor one at that.

That's because UNC had.....that's right, who'd they have backing up Felton? Garbage McGarbage. Oh, and of course the fact that you can commit one more foul at the NBA level certainly helps.

Difference of opinion, but OK.

Good lord, you say Felton has problems getting through screens, reaches, and can't stay with his man, then go on to say you'd take Willaims and Paul. Paul, who's easily the worst defender of the lottery PGs, and Williams, who couldn't stay with my aunt and reaches like no other?

Yeah, I'll take Felton, and so will anyone sane.

Unless he has a growth spurt, it won't be as easy to fix as you think.

His opponents had no trouble getting past him. He especially struggled when he went up against bigger players, which is who he is going to be up against every night in the NBA. Speed does not always equal good defense.

If he could stay in front of his man, then why go to a zone? They went to a zone because he was getting beat...

The idea behind getting Felton seems to center mostly on his defense. However, I don't think his defense will be significantly better than Paul or Williams at the NBA level, and his offensive skills lag far behind both of them.

I doubt that. But how about you put that in your sig, and next year we will see which of the points is the best?

Felton has defensive problems? Please. Basing his capabilities on one game rather than his career is not accurate at all. He has so much athletic ability he can go for a steal and still recover. Davis, Parker, Nash, Bibby, etc won't be burning us if Felton is pressuring them full-court all game long.

I was not "basing his capabilities on one game." I was using the tourney as an example. If I had used a game from mid-season, what are the chances he would have seen that game?

Not in the NBA.

Felton can't even handle Deron Williams playing physical with him and running him through screens, so how is he going to handle those guys?
