Emplay,

Is there any truth to this article from BSPN:

The New York Times reports Isiah Thomas will not trade rookie Channing Frye. Several teams, including the Nuggets and Lakers, have recently contacted the Knicks about Frye, according to two executives. The Knicks have interest in Kenyon Martin, but according to the newspaper, that interest stops when Frye's name is mentioned.

The Knicks really need some cap space due to all the fat contracts that Isiah has taken on. I would love it if we pryed away Fyre and a fat contract like Q's (he is a shooter which we desperately need). I doubt that cap relief and some picks would be enough, although we are talking about the Knicks.

Isiah's BS'ing. The Lakers are a common team name to throw out if you want offers to get better.

Well, of course the Lakers are interested in any player that could help them. Won't stop other GMs from using us to get better offers and not trade that player to us. That's all I'm saying.

True, but it's not like Frye wouldn't be a good player to look at. He has a lot of potential. But you're right even if the Lakers were window shopping I can't see them being that aggressive. We would have heard something ala the Ron Artest fiasco.

Makes sense.

Larry Brown loves Odom

Lamar+filler+(pick) <--> Frye+Rose

Larry should be considered for a labotomy if he pulled that one off.

The Lakers have little to offer. Mitch won't move Kobe, Lamar, Bynum or Mihm. Isiah isn't interested in using Frye to dump bad contracts. He'll gladly mortgage the future for someone who'll give the Knicks a much needed lift. That doesn't sound like George, who is the best trade bait.

Jalen Rose can't be included in any trade for the remainder of the regular season. There's a two month moratorium from date of the Raptor trade. He can only be traded singularly... so it can't happen.

The Knicks can only trade Rose in a straight player for player trade since he was just traded, and Curry is pretty much the only untouchable Knick.

Cookie is looking like our best trade bait as of late.

And Larry Brown hates Marbury. So that's the only way they'd possibly give up Frye is Lamar+filler for Marbury+Frye.

And Phil would love Marbury about as much as Brown....

Could we trade LO straight up for Rose and a second trade of Expiring for frye.

Cookie for Frye? We'd jump at it, I doubt the Knicks would though. I don't think Cookie is a Larry Brown type player. George is closer to that mould, though Qyntel Woods has been a pleasant surprise for the Knicks thus far.

No. We're talking Isiah. He's the Devil... remember the Antonio Davis side agreement?

The salaries of LO and Rose don't work for a straight up trade...

NY is desperate...but I don't see how the contracts between us and them work...

They say the only untouchables are Curry and Frye.....

Q makes almost 7 million

Nate makes 1 million

Steph makes 16.5mill...

16.5million????

I say we go after Q, we all see the triangle is a spot up shooters offense imagine??

Brown wants competitors. Devean and Luke for Q.

Mihm
Brown
Odom
Kobe
Smush

Cook, Q Rich, and Sasha.....can you say BOMBS AWAY!!!!!

Frye is overrated.

He is a very talented scorer, but his defense and size is very suspect for the West.

I'm not that high on him.

But I heard on draft day - That's the big that Phil thought would help the most ....

I don't think anyone on that Knick roster is untouchable. They're a runaway train right now. The team stopped listening to Larry Brown, who is unhappy with the personnel. Isiah is throwing some of the blame back, saying he wouldn't have made certain draft decisions had he known Larry Brown was going to be the coach. The Knicks have now dropped 13 of their last 14 games.

Isiah will trade anyone to save his skin. He was never one to plan long-term, so keeping Frye or Curry isn't a concern.

Yeah but for who would they trade Frye?

Bynum?
Odom?

I don't think the Lakers offer either. I know Phil liked Frye a ton, and he thought he would help immediately in the Triangle.

However, is it realistic to expect the Lakers to trade either of their best piece for Frye?

What I think is Mitch may have offered last years, Mihm or Kwame and picks for Frye and a bad Knick contract or two (I think Davis and Taylor are both K's that the Knicks wanted to unload)
