I hope it is not serious. First Noel missed his entire 1st season then Embiid misses 2 seasons. Even Okafor had a season ending injury. That is some crazy bad luck.

or maybe its just poor fitness training management

It's unfortunate that this happened but I'm not surprised. The 76ers are cursed. He won't be back until February. They will have the 1st pick again and draft another big.

Is there a prognosis on how long he's going to be out? Maybe the NBA needs to do a PSA about not bulking up to an absurd degree.

Ben Simmons update: Sixers and doctors involved believe rookie suffered an "acute injury" unrelated to weight and plan for surgery next week

This doesn't sound good.

I fractured my right foot 5th metatarsal a few years back doing drills. Its a very common injury among athletes especially with soccer, basketball, and football players. Gasol and Ariza suffered it when they were with the lakers, along with Brandon Jennings and Brook Lopez just to name a few.
A surgical screw will help it heal faster plus no weight bearing. It will probably set Simmons back a good 6 months but after that it shouldn't affect his future career.

Ben Simmons puts on 33 lbs, now a broken foot. Related? For sure. Athletes can't add that much weight that quickly w/out impacting movement.

Is 33 pounds in a year too quickly?

Does anyone think he might do a Blake Griffin and skip the whole year?

His chances of winning ROY just went down the drain IMO.

Twitter saying he can potentially be back by December or Janaury, he will still have 4 months to get back to basketball condition and put the rust off.

without a detailed description of the incident, it's impossible to even guess. and who knows...if the sixers have a bad record this year, what is their lottery situation?

How would you know that? The obvious answer is that you don't, so instead you decide to show your ignorance.

Ben Simmons agent wont let him play this year. It sucks for the Sixers but at least they are in great position to get a top 3 next year!

He still gets paid this year right????
I can see him leaving Philly for a bigger market when the time comes up.
Looks like the "process" will keep chugging along....

If Ben Simmons doesn't play this year do to a lower leg injury by a Sixers player, I would seriously tell the suicide hotline people in Philly to hire a few more people. How much more torture can those fans endure?

Philly has some promising young talent Embiid, Okafor and Simmons. I'd like to see what they will do when all three are healthy.

I haven't watched much BB since the season ended. Has Maker played any this season. If so, how did he look.

That's a lot of weight in a short period. I hope Ingram doesn't go that route. He's only a buck 90.
