I didn't want the Indians to win either since their basketball team won a few months ago(although I would've been cool with the Indians otherwise)
The Dodgers ruined everything.
At least the narrative of them being lovable losers will finally die and the MLB will need something else to latch viewers because they just killed their longest and best storyline.
The Cubs are now just like everyone else. |
That makes absolutely no sense. |
They're from Chicago therefore I hate plus their fans are insufferable with the "lovable losers" schtick. |
Hardly.
I find it laughable that someone would hate something just because it's Chicago. It's a great city filled with really good people. There's obviously some needless cartoon hate running through you which speaks more about you than the Chicago Cubs.
Quote: | There are other franchises who have won nothing(like the Padres) even cities that have no titles (San Diego) that nobody seems to care about.
I don't get what makes the Cubs so special they have won championships its just that nobody was really alive to witness the last one.
But hey its a big market so we're supposed to care despite Chicago having the Bulls in the 90s the Blackhawks this past decade.
Its like the Red Sox of 2004 apparently I'm supposed to feel bad they went 86 years without a championship and yet they got to see their hockey and basketball teams dominate and currently their football team (ugh)
At least with New York fans I may not care for their teams and the Knicks suck but at least they own their entitlement.
Chicago and Boston? Not so much. |
Cubs fans are universally seen as great, loyal fans by those without a dog in the fight - and even by many who do. There is absolutely ZERO "entitlement" to them at all - just the opposite. |
Coming from you this is rather hypocritical.
So were you happy for those long suffering Cleveland fans when the Cavs finally won the title? Or did you dislike LeBron as much as I did and weren't thrilled.
I mean don't people hate the Celtics around here and most if not all the Boston teams because they're from Boston or they find their fans insufferable?
How is that different?
Its not. Its a matter of opinion. |
Hardly hypocritical because the situations ARE different.
First, you have stated that baseball's not a sport you care about. I DO care about basketball.
Secondly, I dislike Cavs fans because of the whole, "WE HATE LE BRON THE TRAITOR" attitude that disappeared as soon El BJ said he'd return. Prior to that, I didn't give Cavs fans a second thought, much less the city of Cleveland.
Cubs fans don't burn jerseys when their stars leave only to love them again if they return. They don't bail on their team after literally decades of disappointment.
As for the Celtics, I dislike them because of decades of a rivalry that I have a passionate connection to. I'm not a "basketball is not my sport, but I hate the Celtics anyway" person.
Quote: | You didn't grow up near these people I have my experience was different than yours. |
Actually, I have been rated to "these people" for over 20 years now. I have more extended family from the Chicago area than I do from my side of the family, so I know "those people" quite well and my kids have grown up with them.
Quote: | Its sports people hate things for lesser reasons than this.
People were happy for Red Sox fans until they won a couple more titles and then they realized what I've always known their fans are insufferable too.
Sports fans in general are when they win a lot.
You act as if people don't think this about Lakers fans.
Not everyone is going to like you.
I mean I was happy when the Colts won the SB many years ago but I know many people hated it because they wanted Manning to go ringless.
But I accept your right to not like the player/team.
You clearly don't. |
Oh you are free to your opinion, that's not my point at all, as I stated. It's not the opinion that's an issue, it's the fact that you have it while saying that baseball's not your sport. I'm also pointing out that the more common thread on the Cubs is quite different than your description. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Difference is people in Chicago actually love the Cubs....not so much for the majority of people in LA and the Clippers. |

I'll save the choice words and just say I'm glad you are disappointed. |
I'm happy that you & other fans enjoyed it, but I like 100+ year streaks of anything. _________________ "All wars are civil wars, because all men are brothers."

Hopefully Cubs fans don't become obnoxious fans like Red Sox fans became with their sudden sense of self-entitlement. Although they've been better about it recent years. Most Cubs fans were great. Then again, Chicago Blackhawks fans were great, but became really obnoxious the last few years. Hoping it doesn't become a trend with Chicago. No "Chicago Way" nonsense like some of the insufferable Cardinal fans have become. |

Not going to happen. Some of us would like to trade the WS win so we could go back 108 tears in order to erase the 60 years that the Trump victory set us back. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know
