As of Today all Tesla made will have fully autonomous hardware.

Enhanced Auto-Pilot will be a $5k option while fully autonomous AP will be a an additional $3k option on Model S and Model X.

Every couple of months there will be software updates improving Auto-Pilot until ~ two years from now Teslas with activated Auto Pilot hardware 2.0 will be fully autonomous. They will still need approval from your local regulators before you can fall asleep while driving or skip the front seats altogether.

before the scary folks come in here let me just say this.
CPU driving will work better for us all once we all allow the cpus to drive us.
Now having a handful of CPU driven cars vs the rest humans is not going to work well for either side.

It's simple logic. CPU's can play off of one another better than they could off of human behavior(which can be erratic at times.) People who can't drive well or choose not to drive well will be the first ones talking about how autopilot is such a bad idea not taking into account how many car crashes we have with humans like themselves at the wheel.

Imagine:
- No more drunk driving
- No more teen drivers
- No more granny drivers
- No more soccer moms in SUV's and huge trucks with cell phones in hand
- No more idiot young guys trying to race their sedans
- No more idiot older guys trying to "open that baby up" when they get that hemi
- No more road rage, since everyone's car merges properly. No one cuts anyone off, no one hops into anyone's blindspots without them knowing(sensors).

- far less spin outs due to oversteering
- lets say the cpu driving car hits black ice/or a really wet patch of road. once they tighten up the logic. The science/the physics can tell what's the best way to approach that black ice/patch of water. And if by chance you spin out how to steer/counter steer/ brake & not to brake in order to bring the car to a safe stop.

The truth is proper logic can even say in the case of the worse case scenario where your car with you in it just got side swiped by a truck. should your cpu driver go over the divider and into on coming traffic to kill you and someone else or veer you the other way which may just kill you and save everyone else's life. Yes, it's going to become that good at predicting the best course of action. Better than we can. Yes this also means there will be cpu nascar races. Those with the best logic/physics and racing guidelines will be the ones who win the most.

Yes computers will malfunction from time to time but as we've seen in many industries, computers mess out for less than we human's do. Those are just the facts in certain tech.

I'm very surprised Tesla doesn't have more radars to provide full coverage of the vehicle, especially given their recent update that makes excellent use of the radar to enhance their existing autopilot. I'm not sure how well cameras can handle inclement weather and low visibility situations, whereas Elon has been very complimentary of radar's ability to penetrate rain drops and fog in the past. Still, extremely cool.

An autonomous car will be at least 2x as safe as a human operated car when operating in an almost exclusively human operated traffic.

When all cars are autonomous cars will be 100x-1000x as safe as human operated car traffic.

There are over 100 fatalities on US roads every day. But we rarely here about them if they don't involve a celebrity or is caught on video. But Joshua Brown dying in a AP Tesla had stories running for weeks. This will continue and distort the data for some ignorant people.

I don't care about the stigma that comes with driving a Tesla, I want one.

It seems like a polite and considerate car. Remove the drivers and the brand reputation might improve.

Tesla joins Apple, Google and Coca-Cola in Top 100 list of best global brands

Tesla's brand does not need improving. It has rapidly growing awareness globally without any paid advertisements.

Jealous losers on the internet hating on Tesla has no relevance to Tesla's sales, revenue or market share because no one considering buying a Tesla listens to them and they can't afford a $35k plus car.

I was actually making a statement about the douchebag yuppies that drive Tesla and think they can run over people in the crosswalk in downtown Palo Alto because A) they are too important to stop. B) to intellectually challenged to know running over people is bad or C) just a rich douchebag that thinks his insurance will cover it and he's in a hurry.

Pretty much sums up everyone I know that drives a Tesla.

So, brand you say?

Um, lots of people can afford a 35k car, most people actually.....thanks for proving my statement above.
