Was curious what people thought of Hubie Brown as a TV commentator/analyst in these Finals and in general?

I love the guy. One of the few commentators worth listening to. Hope he's healthy for a long time.

The Man is a GENIUS.. there are only a few great minds in the NBA and Hubie is definitely one of them, it is a shame that he is as old as he is, I would have loved to see this man in his prime instead of watching him when I was too young to appreciate him.

I only pray that there are a bunch of young energetic minds waiting in the wings of the NBA to join his expertise and share it with us.

I really enjoy listening to him. I find him to be fair and informative. I leave the volume up when he's doing the games.

I love Hubie.

Compared to Marv, Tom Tolbert (oh puhleeze), even Bill Walton, Hubie is wayyyy better. He has insight that helps me understand the game better and is very interesting to listen to. He's not the kind of commentator who, when one team is playing great is all about them and talking smack about the other, and then when the other team is doing good talking smack about the first team. That's SO irritating. Nope. Hubie is great, and I hope he continues on. It's very safe to say he knows his stuff.

No one can doubt Hubie's love for the game. You can hear it in everthing he says in the booth. He loves to say what the players should be doing as opposed to what they are doing. He loves to give us tidbits of info about the game and its evolution. He is such a joy to listen too, and if he weren't so old, he'd be a great candidate for our coaching position.

I like Hubie cuz he looks at things from all angles, for instance, when they call a foul, he will say that he agrees with the call but at the same time he can see why the fans are upset because they could of let that call go.

I don't think it's fair to compare Albert to Brown. Albert is the play-by-play guy while Brown is the analyst. Both Brown and Doug Collins are both good analyst. ESPN's crew of analyst can't compare to TNT's.

What's the big hype behind Doug Collins. He's been nothing but a loser on the NBA level and his commentary makes me want to puke the majority of the time. He's a terrible basketball mind, rides huge emotional waves during his broadcast, and can't touch Hubie BOTH in coaching and broadcasting. I wish TNT would get rid of this lump.

Hubie is probably the best in the game.
Dr. Jack not bad but he sometimes tries too hard.
Stu adds terrific defensive insights night in and night out.

Tolbert - isajoke.
Fratello - sux.
Collins - really sux.
Crapper - the name says it all.

Hubie is incredible. His mind is alert and sharp. As soon a something happens he has alreadey analyzed and diagnosed the situation. He's not overbearing and he's likeable. I have great respect for him because of what he did in Memphis and he generally says things I agree with.

Hubie has been my favorite for years. His knowledge of the game is unmatched. He is unbiased and sees every point. He is the perfect color guy. No gimmicks, no rants, no favorites, just a superior basketball mind at work. I alos love the way he throws out numbers like his mind is a calculator.

On a side note, I have really grown to like John Thompson a lot. He has great insight as well. He has no real favorites (outside of G-town guys) and I feel like I learn something when i listen to him as well. The only problem with him is he sounds like he is screaming sometime.

He's pretty good.

Generally he talks and cheers on the team that last lost a game. So sometimes he can be very biased. That's just him being a coach, comes natural.

My other problem is he generally doesn't see the right thing. He tries his hardest to be unbiased and make the right call, but 50% of the time I don't agree at all with what he saw.

The one that sticks out in my mind right now was when Rip made and up and under move, passed the ball back to himself and shot it in.

Hubie was like "That's just a good up and under move, Duncan is complaining but Duncan does the same exact move".

I was like whaaaa? lol

I respect what Hubie has to say all the time...he is kind of bias sometimes...I remember he even admitted it in one of the games he was broadcasting for...but he's probably one of the best teachers of the game if not the best...it's too bad he left the Grizzlies...

this is pretty lopsided.

I like Hubie's commentary. He's one of the smartest guys involved with the NBA.
