Its time for my annual "ask LG for vacation advice" post.
Heading out with the kids, my sis and her fam and my Mom and Dad- to Lake Tahoe next week.
I haven't been there in about 20 years. My bro-in-law got us a place thru AirBnB in South Lake Tahoe.
I've already decided we are probably going to try some water rafting up North at the truckee river. It's something ALL of us can enjoy (my nephew is 6 and my parents are in their 60s)
We kayaked in Catalina a couple years back and although the ocean was a bit rough, we all really had a blast. This should be way less difficult.
Other than that.... I'm open to suggestions... Any other places we should check out?
Anything we should avoid?
Bars, restaurants, beaches, etc...
Any and all advice is welcome. _________________ "Dread it, run from it... destiny arrives all the same."

My advice, if someone named Al offers to take you fishing, don't go. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Try eating at Plumpjack in Squaw Valley.
Is that associated with the Napa winery by chance? Love their wines. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Take advantage of calm weather by getting out on the lake in whatever form you enjoy most: rent a boat or jet skis, parasail, hop a charter fishing boat, dinner cruises, a big paddle wheel tour boat or just head to the beach and splash around. There are plenty of hiking trails and rock climbing. Little zip lines for small kids and climbing courses and ski run zip lines for the more adventurous. Oh, and it is a mountain biker's paradise - there is even a nice course at BIJOU PARK., or you can rent bikes and pedal to the aquarium, and then grab some ice cream on the return trip. You can rent quads and navigate part of the Rubicon Trail. Gambling and nightlife at the casinos. Golf at Edgewood (where Tony Romo just won the Celebrity Tournament 2 weekends ago). Plenty of restaurants.
Let me know if any of that stuff sounds interesting, and I can post more info and links if you like.
Thank you, LC. Looks like that place is near where we will be for our day of rafting. Will check it out if we can.
JMK. Thanks! Awesome info. The ziplining sounds like fun. Might have to add that to the list. And my Dad, bro-in-law and myself have already planned to hit the casino for a bit, once everyone else is tucked a way for the night . lol
And DMR... Sound advice as always, brotha. Good lookin out. Haha _________________ "Dread it, run from it... destiny arrives all the same."

I much prefer the north shore to the south shore. West Shore is cool, too.
Yes, do the Truckee River ride out of Tahoe City. Have had some great times there.
If you're going to a casino on the north shore, go to the Hyatt in Incline. It's a nice chill spot.
As far as restaurants in the north, go to Rosie's for a rustic, campy meal. My family and I always go to Fat Cat in Tahoe City. It's kind of a tradition for us. Plumpjack at Squaw is very good.
As for beaches, there are very few places better than Sand Harbor. The water there is beautiful.
If you've never been to Emerald Bay, it's worth a shot. Walk down the trail to the water. Beautiful.
If you have time, go up to Truckee. They have a cool farmer's market (Thursdays I think) and some good bars and restaurants. _________________ You are under no obligation to remain the same person you were a year ago, a month ago, or even a day ago. Yeah, Sand Harbor is probably number 2 or 3 on our list of places to visit. Everything I've read says to get there early though.. but it will be a Monday or Tuesday, so hopefully it's not too crowded.
And yes, Truckee is exactly where we'll be going for the rafting trip. Will definitely check out a few other sites around there as well.
Once again, LG comes thru. _________________ "Dread it, run from it... destiny arrives all the same."

Best bread in California...
Never understood the hype about that place. It's just bread.
Maybe because bread is by far the most significant and important food in human history? _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel
Hard Rock for brunch. 11$ bottomless mimosas/bloody marys. Food is decent too. Cliché Cigar Bar in Harrahs. The views are amazing and Melanie will tell you all kinds of stories of past fun and if your nice take you to The Rat Pack's old penthouse. Camp Richardson has a cool lake front restaurant with live music. Chamber's landing (on the north) is one of the better restaurants I've been too up there. Moe's BBQ (north as well) is pretty darn good. Full Access Tahoe offers great ATV's
I would highly encourage the bolded once the kids are asleep and its just the men you mentioned. Harrah's is my favorite of the big South shore casinos.
JMK, that mountain biking looks badass. But my youngest nephew doesn't bike without training wheels and my son is still getting his confidence with riding without them. And tbh...I'm probably the only one in my family who would do it. LOL But something to try down the road...
LonzosBalls (lol) thanks for the suggestions. I'm gonna feel bad that I cant get to all these spots now. You guys/gals are great.
