I'll give the preseason a D. The lineups have been awful and it's difficult to build chemistry when he keeps changing lineups. He's yet to try Deng at PF which he was great in Miami.

This is why I'd like to see accountability from these polls. Show us who voted for what.

Well, I think there are some harsh critics here. I mean, what does an "A" preseason look like to those who graded C and lower? Are those kinds of results, realistic?

You do realize that preseason is meant to experiment with lineups and Deng sat out a majority of preseason for rest, right?

That's a fair assessment considering that a lot of the vets weren't playing and we had different line up changes.

Starters playing well together showing improvement from game to game as a unit. Hasn't been the case.

I graded it a b for the following reasons
- no one got injured seriously
- guys were giving alot of effort and competing on d
- dangelo russell, the future of our team with ingram, showed alot of promise and improved dramatically compared to last preseason.
- they showed alot of comradery and joy on the bench when a teammate would make a great play
- we learned alot about our players and what roles they are capable of playing on this team

....that being said they have alot to work on, they played alot of ugly bball, but we knew thay going in. I didnt have expectations for them to win a bunch of preseason games nor did i really care.

I also gave it a C.

Still a lot of questions...including some that should have already been answered.

B. The system is in place. The energy and focus on defense is much more intense compared to last season. They play with some level of enthusiasm on that end.

Offensively, the Lakers are running initial plays and just getting comfortable. Sometimes there's some indecisiveness or mix up. But at the same time, we've seen scoring outbursts from JC, Russell, and even Ingram. Randle is playing a role that he's more comfortable with and I'm not watching him do that stutterstep at the FT line, spin move right into a defender.

What would make it an A? Really crisp ball movement regardless of line up. It's a lot to ask, but it's easy to see that Lou Williams still chucks. Nick Young, OTOH, seems to get shots within the flow of the offense and exerts focus on defense.

I went 'B' as well for those reasons. Well said.

So basically Luke treated the preseason like a preseason.

I'd give it a B. I don't think win-loss should factor much at all into a preseason score. It was a good preseason because of the improvements in defensive intensity and some of the technical fixes we've seen, the willingness of players to learn a new offense, which unlike last year is a real offense, a focus on reestablishing fundamentals, and plenty of playing time to decide who makes the roster and who doesn't.

The only reason I can't give it an A is because the starting unit just isn't clicking like it should and therefore hasn't been decided yet.

We need to improve in many areas such as defense, rebounds and consistency all the way around.

This is a young team with a long, long season in front of them. Fasten your seat belts because there's a rocky road ahead of us. Patience is the key.

Starting line up hasn't even been consistent. Personally, I can't grade that.

A C, lots of room for improvement.

Negatives include poor rebounding, free throws, slow starts, and turnovers. Randle's not shown any improvement in his mid-range game. AB's 3-pt shooting is non-existent.

Positives include Russell's developing into a star, JC's improved defense, Nance's all-around game, Tarik's energy, and Zubac's shot-blocking and post defense.

Positives
The Lakers are actually running an offense
Nick Young
More Ball Movement
You can see improvements from game to game, unlike last season
DLO looks like a star
Ingram vs GS
JC improved defense

Negatives
Slow starts for the starting line up
Not enough Deng
Average overall play from our young guys (Randle, JC, Ingram,Nance)
Not able to win games when we were trying to

It was probably Byron, Mike Brown's son, and some troll from another board.

B-

Positive side of the ledger

1) DLO looks pretty solid, should be 18-22 PPG
2) Nick looked amazing TBH
3) Black looks better, especially his FT's
4) Mosgov looks like a solid defender and can finish
5) JC looks like he is playing D finally, his offense looks to have Plateaued though.
6) Ingram had one good preseason game, which is one more than I thought he'd have. His defense and his instincts with the ball look very solid, he is going to be an allstar.

Negatives

1) Randle has gotten only marginally better in all aspects of the game and hasn't developed his jump shot which is disappointing.
2) Nance was pretty weak this preseason. Looked like he had low energy and got burned on man defense more than a couple of times.
3) Deng looked old as sh*t
4) Yi and Huertas got way too much run...they are both terrible
5) way too many lazy turnovers
6) Free throw shooting to me is always a sign of confidence and preparation. Our FT numbers were miserable across the board. I'm not sure what's going on there, but if we hit 75% of our free throws we would have won a few more preseason games.

So yeah, it was a decent preseason. No young core players got hurt, DLO and BI showed us something...it's all good.

I was for sure you'd give them a C for (C)larkson!

I gave them a C. I saw some great things and I saw a lot of things that desperately need improving.

Some positives.
Russell's overall game is improving.
Randle pushing the pace and is actively looking to playmake.
Sawggy on offense and defense.
Clarkson accepting a possible 6th man roll and stepping it up on defense.
Yi's tradeable contract.
Ingram playing some point and gaining confidence.
Luke's positive, encouraging attitude.

Some negatives.
Anthony Brown's game still on a milk carton.
Randle's jumper and defense are on
LouWill ISO ball.
LouWill defense.
Black taking tough shots near the basket instead of kicking out to the open man.
Yi's slow release two feet inside the 3 point line.

But this is just the beginning. I'm happy with what I see so far, but if I'm being honest with myself, they are a C. And that seems to be the floor. Their ceiling will probably be determined in 2-3 years.
