Arrieta winning was justifiable. Dickey winning was most definitely not. |
He had a pedestrian first half. It was all about the second-half, which granted was amazing, but if we go by that, then Kershaw before injury last year was just as amazing. Greinke and Kershaw both deserved it more, though it still wasn't as bad as Dickey's win. |

Man I was totally in the dark about the changes to the all star game not having any meaning this year. Thank god they changed it. Right now it looks like it will come down to us and the Astros for best record.
This is my prediction for ALCS and NLCS.
ALCS: Red Sox vs Astros
NLCS: Natonals vs Dodgers _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

Sounds right
Dark horses: Twins; Angels (AL); Brewers (NL). |

I'm going Astros vs. Indians in the AL. I'd probably pick Dodgers vs. Nats in the NL too. |

Yu Darvish or Cole Hamels, anyone?

There's an increasing buzz that #Rangers will listen on Yu Darvish and Cole Hamels if team doesn't pick up its play before July 31 deadline.
Crasnick notes that Hamels has a 20-team no-trade clause, but it's been well-documented that he likes SoCal, so I can't imagine that the Dodgers would be on that list of no-trade teams. Hamels makes $22.5MM next season and then has a club option for 2019 (or a $24MM vesting option). Darvish would be a rental.
Which would y'all rather have? Darvish would be a rental and shouldn't cost as much, and he's pretty filthy when he's healthy, which he currently is. But Hamels is a local guy (he'd probably love to pitch for the Dodgers and re-join his former teammate Chase Utley again) and is a proven postseason guy, although his postseason ERA of 3.48 is slightly higher than his regular season career mark of 3.32. And although Hamels has looked fine since he came back off the DL, he's been injured this season, and he's only struck out 28 batters over 51.1 innings. We also have lefties Kershaw and Wood (and Hill), and I think I'd prefer the power right-hander, Darvish, here. And, as I said, I think he'd cost less since he's a rental.
Oh, we're also apparently interested in Zach Britton. If his forearm is right, man, that would be a remarkable late-inning duo with Kenley. But I worry about his health. That's probably why the Dodgers are interested in him, right, rwongega? |

Definitely need a good righty. But knowing the Rangers and our apparent inability to negotiate with GM's the FO has 0 connections to means it's unlikely.
Britton is not an ex-Ray/A so the odds are slim. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

I hope Cody doesn't get the HR derby curse. He was already slowing down 2-3 weeks before all star break. He could be hitting the wall with fatigue combined with pitchers starting to figure him out more. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

He might be pressing, but then Cody is an undercut hitter. Undercut hitters are prone to occasional slumps. |

Interesting quick little vid if you want to watch. Nate Silvers FiveThirtyEight projects the Dodgers to win more than 105 games this year. They also say the Dodgers and Astros could end up being the greatest team of all time beating the 1927 Yankees. They say the Astros and Dodgers combined have a 50% of winning the world series. They go by Elo ratings.

I think I would prefer to get Hand over Britton as it would probably cost less.
A Baez-Britton-Jansen trio to closeout games in the 7th-8th-9th would be pretty filthy though. _________________ |

SD wanted Alex Verdugo for Hand. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

Seems like once a game he'll just yank one. Combine that with Grandal's propensity to give up passed ball's, and you get a pretty frustrating game |
