Baez and Stripling weren't involved.
We won.
Shocking! |
3 innings for Maeda. How is our starting pitching so bad? |
Whatever virus the Dodgers caught after historic run has affected all facets of the team. Including what was their biggest strength, starting pitching. Heck even Kersh gave up his first GS of career.
Sad but true.
As for Maeda, as was mentioned he's already prepping for that new long relief role for postseason.

I'd like nothing more than to avenge that loss in 13. The whole Kelly/Matheny taking out HanRam who we all knew was made of glass still leaves a terrible taste in my mouth.
Hope your Cards make it, that'd be a fun series. _________________ 16 and counting.... |

Indians lose so if Dodgers win they will put some space between them and the Indians to 2 games. |

Hill has quietly had a pretty solid season. When his command is on, he's really difficult to hit. He has one of the best curveballs in the majors, and his 90 MPH heater looks like 95 when hitters are thinking the curve is coming.
He's going to end up with about 135 innings if he makes 1 more start, and if we had been asked before the season if we would take Hill throwing 135 innings and being healthy going into the postseason, I think we would have taken that. |

Feels like we have a lot of 50/50 guys. They can go lights out or get blown up. Man, playoffs can't come soon enough. These last 4 weeks has been death by a thousand cuts. _________________ KOBE |

Hill has made 24 starts now. It's pretty much unfair to use "quality starts" as a metric for him for effectiveness, since the Dodgers so often only let him pitch 5 innings, so I was interested in seeing how often Hill allowed 2 runs or less in 5 innings or more, while also including any games where he had 6 IP or more and allowed 3 ER or less. Using this standard, Hill has had 17 "quality" outings this season, out of 24. That's pretty darned good.
In the 7 starts that weren't "quality", he only had 3 where he allowed 5 ER or more. In the other 4, he actually allowed 3 ER or less, meaning that those were starts where he just didn't pitch a lot of innings, but where he didn't bury his team. (Oddly enough, he hasn't had a start this season in which he's allowed exactly 4 ER; it's been 3 or less 21 times, and 5 or more 3 times.)
He's allowed 3 ER or less in 14 of his last 15 outings, with the only hiccup being that game at Arizona, which was the game following his incredible 9 innings of no-hit ball at Pittsburgh. I'd say he's on a pretty good run right now. |

^^
Another Rich Hill tidbit: the Dodgers only let him throw 100 or more pitches in 2 of his 24 outings, to this point, and I'm sure his final start will be more of a tuneup where he doesn't come close to that number. He averaged just under 89 pitches per start. I'm hoping that if he's pitching well in a postseason start and really has it working, they extend him out to more like 100-110 pitches, if he's still rolling along. Of course, you have to watch him closely, and I'm sure they'd pull him once he gets near or just over the 100 pitch mark and maybe a couple of guys reached base. But if he's dealing, and he's at, say, 85 pitches through 6, I won't be too happy if they take him out. |

Struggling against good pitchers while teams are finding ways to hit Kershall is a bit frustrating. I am hoping the post season brings new life to this team. |

The tremendous run we had was the result of practically everything going right. It was a run that hadn't been achieved since the early 19 whatevers. That run took tremendous energy to sustain. That same energy went the opposite direction when we lost.
Hopefully we'll see a refreshed and revitalized Dodger team in the playoffs. |

Taylor is hitting .212 in September. Seager is hitting .190 in the last 21 games. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

Dodgers with a slim 1 game lead over the Indians for home field advantage in the World Series. 6 games left for both teams. |

Seager needs surgery on his elbow. It’s no coincidence the team started slumping after his injury. Not good going into the playoffs. |

As much as I am frustrated with Baez, its still sad to see him get the Kwambe Brown treatment. |

So does anyone know of the other things that Puig has done lately to piss off Dave Roberts? Last night's stolen base attempt that ended the game was inexcusable. But other than that, I can't think of anything that he's done recently that was a stupid baseball move. |

Not to mention his batting average is above what the rest of the team is averaging....seems if if somebody is trying to throw the game they would bench their good players and play their terrible players like what he's been doing lately.... |
