Julio Urías will have left anterior capsule surgery Tuesday morning in Los Angeles. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Neal El Attrache.
Apparently this is a very serious surgery. Johan Santana was never the same after this surgery.
Bleepety bleep. |
Dang it. That was my worry. It's looking like they might have mishandled his development. |

Julio's in capable hands, if anyone can help him it'd be Dr. Neal El Attrache who is known for working on Kobe's achilles / Zack Greinke's collarbone. |

Julio Urías will only be 21 in Aug, so he has youth on his side. Sounds like he has a great doctor if he was allowed to work on Black Mamba.
Does this make it more likely Dodgers make a move for pitching?
I know we have a ways to go, but do you feel comfortable going into a playoffs going with a 3 man rotation of Kersh/Wood/McCarthy? I don't trust Hill/Ryu/Maeda ... Maeda looks okay in long relief. |

Uh oh. Seager, after starting 2-2 with two runs scored and an RBI, is leaving the game early with a hamstring issue.
FWIW, he pulled up heading to 2b and managed to stay in and score on a single by Turner. (granted, he didn't have to run very hard.) Really, really hoping it's minor... |

They are calling it a cramp, so probably not that bad. |

I really like the way Wood worked out of trouble early in the game. He is definitely for real. |

Anterior capsule surgery for a pitcher is very serious. It's more serious than Tommy John surgery; much more so, actually. He does have youth on his side, but it would've been far better had he just torn his UCL in his elbow. It's a 12-14 month recovery time, and all we can do is just hope for the best. I think that Johan Santana was 31 when he tore his anterior capsule, so perhaps the youth will help here. It would be a real shame if this derails the kid's career.
Of course, we are more than capable of withstanding that blow and winning it all this season. I have no doubt that we can get through the regular season with this crop of starting pitchers and relievers, but I do wonder if we might want to go for one more top-of-the-rotation starter via trade and one more topflight reliever via trade. I don't think we really need offense at this point, though I won't rule anything out if we didn't have to give up much. But I wouldn't be in favor of trading any premium prospects for an outfield upgrade (since we don't need any infield help). |

This is the best Dodger team since the 1970s. So much fun to watch, and some young guys leading the way with Bellinger/Seager. This is the best LA team in a LONG time of any sport. |

Crazy how easy tehy're making it look. Down by a bunch of runs? No problem, let's just hit a bunch of home runs in a row. Facing one of the best lineups in all of baseball? No problem, let's allow 1 run in two games. Ridiculous right now. _________________ KOBE |

Who mishandled his development? Lol. He could've gotten the injury by throwing one pitch. So how did the Dodgers mishandled his development? |

Bellinger starting in RF. Good to see Roberts give Puig the day off. Puig has been looking a little gimpy. He is constantly working/stretching his right thigh. |
