5 points from the Timberwolves bench (five!) ruin KAT's 47 / 18 double (double) homicide of O'Quinn and Plumlee ... news at 11.

I'm surprised at how bad the Timberwolves are. Levine, Wiggins and Rubio seem to be not living up to the hype. Wiggins was supposed to be lock down coming out of college. I have yet to see him play good defense.

They went .500 or so in the last half of last season. Thibs was supposed to really elevate them but they look AWFUL.

Quote:
In any case, the team’s biggest concern — aside from the horrific third quarters, which figure to balance out at some point — has to be defense so far, especially given Thibodeau’s expertise in that area. (Of the last 12 teams Thibodeau has worked with as a head coach or an assistant, 11 finished in the top 10 defensively. The one club that didn’t, the 2014-15 Bulls, finished 11th.)

The Wolves are generally an active bunch on that end of the floor and deflect more passes than any team aside from the Golden State Warriors. Yet even with the slight improvements they’ve made since Thibodeau was hired, they’re still poor at protecting the rim.

Link

Their bench is mostly terrible, Thibs is trying to run the offense through Wiggins (they seem like they run a bunch of triangle), which makes Rubio a spectator, while their defense is subpar with Wiggins/Lavine on the perimeter and Towns/Dieng regressing on rim protection.

Wiggins in year three is posting a -3.9 BPM (-3.7 DBPM). That's Michael Olowokandi, Yi Jianlian territory when you account for minutes played. His early hot shooting masked that he continues to not pass, rebound, or defend, and he hasn't really improved there since he was a rookie.

I felt like the paper clips were going to win this one just because they've been so incredibly tragic lately. But what on earth happened to the Cavs? Did they just not play? Did they just sit everyone out and say forget it?

I thought the Cavs would win tonight. Surprised the Clippers destroyed them. I guess the Clippers think they are the 2002 Lakers and can flip the switch because they played well for a few weeks in November.

Both teams did a lot of complaining, wasn't fun to watch.

They're getting completely jobbed by the refs but GSW needs to focus and not let the refs and the Beard get into their heads.

Edit: and Ariza can still play. Let's get him back. Lol

Oh I bet. There's a Clippers thread on here where someone asked what if the finals ended up being CLE vs LAC and I said my head would explode. That would be a totally unwatchable Finals for me.

I know if you have KD, Steph and Klay on your team you let one of the guys take the shot most of the time, but Iggy has been giving up open shot after open shot.
