Oh I'm well aware of what he brings to the table, but it's just bad basketball. His game on both ends of the floor is the antithesis of the team ball concept Luke wants to employ. He's anything but the foundational player Jim Buss sees him as -- Russell was actually at his best when Lou wasn't playing last season.
He's one of those players a coach like Popovich would strangle for playing the game the wrong way. Passing up a wide open shot to draw a foul, subsequently destroying the flow of the game? You can bet that will get you traded from most teams.
He never fit in Casey's defensive system in Toronto. He lost his job to a 20-year old rook in Atlanta. Andre Iguodala called him the worst defender ever on those Philly teams. Lakers were the last organization to get the inside joke on him. |

This was always going to be at least a 3 year rebuilding process - and we're in year 1.
30 +/- wins this season, hopefully 40 +/- wins next season after which we might be attractive to FA's & some of our youngs might be good, hopefully even better the next season.
I like watching these rookies play, even if they're not very good yet....they are already more entertaining than anything the Lakers put on the floor for the last 3-4 years.
No stressing here this season - I plan to sit back and enjoy the ride _________________ LBJ + AD = More rings

if we are in the bottom 2 or 3 at the All-Star break, Zubac may even get some run at PG in those final 25....because that pick will be on the mind of the organization. |
