Does Dozier remind anyone of Damar Derozen?

Undrafted rookie P.J. Dozier out of South Carolina has agreed to a free-agent deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, league sources tell ESPN.

Wow, if true, Lakers aint playin...fast break free agency!

Anyone know why his shooting %s were so low?

Cause he lacks an outside shot

Not getting my hopes up. You guys hype up a guy all summer long and then the dude gets cut half through training camp. I'm not falling for that one again.

Watching highlights that was my initial thought.

5. P.J. Dozier, South Carolina

One of the more under-the-radar prospects, Dozier gets this spot over a handful of borderline first-round prospects because he’s an ace defender with a hint of point guard skill. With his nearly 6-7 frame (including a 6-11 wingspan), all he needs now is to improve his shaky jumper.

I think his D in practice helps Lonzo and maybe Lonzo can help him with his 3's

Isn't it funny that we are trying to build a team where the ball doesn't stop, yet our vision is to target superstars that would stop the ball?

Cousin's is ball stopper. Westbrook is a ball stopper.

Honestly I'm not sure a reliable source has mentioned those two outside of what if scenarios. We know for sure they want PG (wink wink magic).

Been watching his highlights. Looks like a traditional 3, small ball 4. As long as he can play D and shoot the 3, I'm happy. We need a handful of 3 and D players on this team.

I think we got 4 really good young players which is especially nice since we won't have a 1st next year.

The thing about a 6'9.5" player with some weight on him, playing SF - is the motor defensively it takes to run around the perimeter, followed up by sitting down in a stance and locking in ---- takes an great amount of mobility and motor
That, on the perimeter, was one of Kuzma's weaknesses
. That's why I don't like PF body types playing the wing - They get lazy defending out there long term

He's got some meat on him, and slightly more PF feet than SF feet, PF measurables - that's a modern 4..

Then perhaps at Utah he should've Lonzo'd it and shot a bunch of 23-24 footers, instead.

Much more of a fluid athlete than Cook. Of course, that's a very easy hurdle to clear!

Guess so. He shot well from 3 the 2nd half of his year. 4-5 from NBA 3pt (in a high pressure scrimmage) - I bet on that being something, it's gotta be something.

If we were to sign all our picks from today, including Dozier, and keep Black and Nwaba, and resign Ennis... We are at 15 right there.

Lopez, Zubac, (Black), (Bryant)
Randle, Nance, Kuzma
Ingram, Deng
Clarkson, Hart, (Dozier)
Ball, (Nwaba), (Ennis)

(could be cut/released/not signed)

I agree with both of you. I love this draft. These guys crushed it tonight.

I'm excited about seeing the culture change and excited about the entire draft class. You can see there's a coherent vision in drafting these players- shooting, passing, effort on defense, competitiveness- all things that Luke preaches and/or that his system is based on.

This is a really good sign of how the FO is operating. This bodes well for the future. Really happy about this.

There are an awful lot of long-armed, lane-filling, 3pt. shooting targets for Lonzo on this team.

Kuzma is way more mobile than Cook ever was. Brian Cook was only a stretch 4 that could do nothing else but shoot jumpers. I think Kuzma will bring quite a bit to the table. Defense, passing, running the break.

There are only so many star FA's.

The plan to go the star FA route is idiotic to begin with. If that vision then is PG13 + Lebron or bust, it is absolutely insane.

I bet this FO targets Cousins as well in 2018.

Yep, no comparison between the two. Completely different players. Cook was a slow moving stiff, Kuzma glides around the court like he's on a hoverboard.

Re: PJ Dozier

http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/P.J.-Dozier-7268

He lacks touch on his mid-range jumpers and is inconsistent with floater finishes, so when he can't get all the way to the rim he has a difficult time converting on scoring opportunities. His limited outside shooting really prohibits him in the half court, as defenses can go under ball screens against him and shrink the floor.

Didn't Mike [AT] LG say that he doesn't like him cuz of his low at rim %?
