Bill Self was just asked about the Elite 8 Matchup with Oregon, and he said that "they play 4 guards and play Dillon (Brooks) at the 4, like us with Josh", so Self certainly sees JJ as a wing player that just plays the 4 for them as part of a small-ball lineup. For those thinking he could be a 4 in the NBA, I don't see that. I see him as a wing, but you could play him at the 4 in small-ball lineups. Just not most of the time IMO.
JJ with the help defense and comes up with his 4th steal.
I dunno folks, I just think he's going to be really good. Of course, he's not a perfect prospect, and those that point out the free throw % have legitimate reasons for worry. I just have a good feeling with him, even if he's not a great 3-point shooter in the NBA. I think he can create offense inside the 3-point line, and can get easy buckets, and think he will be a plus on the defensive end. Squarely in play for me if we keep the pick.
This draft is better than last year's by a mile. So much deeper.
I think his shot-making will come around in the pros, but Kaiser Lindemann had a great point that Jackson without a better jumper and reduced turnovers isn't much different from energy defensive wings who can be found later in the draft. Charlotte could've drafted Jae Crowder in the second round instead of MKG at #2, for instance.
I don't agree with this. He's not being used in a manner that lets him showcase his full range of skills, similar to how Randle was only allowed to do certain things at Kentucky. With the more open court in the NBA you'll see him advancing the ball a lot as a primary ball handler and getting ball screens to playmake off of.
What do you see as his ceiling? His TOs are a bit concerning if we're projecting him to have more playmaking responsibility against NBA wings rather than Big-12 PFs.

I think he is a #3, and could even play the #2 in traditional lineups. Like you said, he could be a great small ball #4.
JJ is a problem... Him and Ingram on the wings? We would really need a 4 that can shoot lights out for spacing though. _________________ "Friends come and go, but banners hang forever"

I really don't have a NBA comp for him at this stage but I anticipate him to be an even more well rounded player at the next level than he is now, due to the differences from the college game. Turnovers aren't that concerning to me from what I've seen- more from trying to do too much than making bad reads.
Check him out against Kentucky. They isolated him against De'aaron Fox (DX #5 in the draft for his athleticism and defense on the PG spot) on the switch and twice he crossed him over and dished inside for the layup:
give LG what they want....Jackson vs. Ball in the final
Maybe there's a way to sneak Markell's Fultz in there too and get a true matchup of the top 3 picks... I hear UCLA just had a mysterious new freshman guard walk on to the team named Makrelle Schmultz
