But I can't help but feel a sense of gratification that Alford didn't come up big today, the coach or the son. Knowing that Alford has scared high level recruits and buried Zach LaVine on the bench because of his favoritism towards playing his son whether he deserved it or not.

Anyway, tournament games aren't going to change people's minds. It will be a story for about a day or two, and then nothing till draft workouts and whom gets the picks.

Zach LaVine played more minute per game then Bryce did and is even less of a PG the Bryce is.

Ball was noticeably limping the last five minutes of the game and not one of the geniuses with headsets noticed so a report never came. And no one asked in the post game so far as I've heard. Oh well.

Fox is basically what Lakers' brass were hoping that Russell would be.

Lonzo doesn't have much of an offensive game. Dribble, dribble launch is a sign of someone who can't blow by his defender. Even Kentucky's Fox has a more complete half court game, but Fox would be too much like Russell.

I wouldn't pass up Fultz for Lonzo.

I'd be hard-pressed to come up with two more different PGs than Fox & Russell.

yea I saw that too. Although he had a real nice dunk at the same time, which kinda alleviated the narrative that he can't jump off one foot. But yea looked like he was grabbing his hamstring the last 5 mins, limping.

Josh Jackson is who we need and who we should want. Ball can't handle athletic guys in College, what's he going to do in the nBA???

I mentioned this a few pages ago, thank you for noticing- all the anti lonzo viewers had no response cause that would hurt the narrative that "fox outplayed ball, and lonzo sucks"

I have Fultz over Ball if the Lakers get the top pick. Mike posted this on the draft thread the over day about Ball, it's interesting as the Lakers could do with a coulple more shooters if they draft Ball.

I disagree but understand that POV. I think the type of player Lonzo is, is more valuable than Fultz in the system that Luke seems to be trying to implement.

I disagree with that, considering how many times Curry creates his own shots without even passing the ball at times, just to maintain pace.

I'd even argue that shot versatility is a requirement for the system that Luke wants to implement.

If it was a Laker player thing, I can only imagine Lonzo in a Nick Young role, hshooting 3s and attacking closeouts, while Fultz would take Clarkson's shots, with more efficiency and better passing.

I love Ball, really enjoy the way he is an efficient distributor and scorer with the usage of a role player, but Fultz has the superstar factor all over his game, you adapt a system to accommodate a player like him if he doesn't adapts to the system. Ball may be the most natural fit considering Dlo is a high usage player, but Fultz is just too good of a prospect to choose other player above him based on fit when you don't have a superstar able to create for himself

Like I said, it's a matter of preference. I think you can play DLO AND Fultz in the same roles as DLO and Clarkson played last night.

Everyone keeps saying "Ball is a natural fit," yet, I don't see PFs that shoot consistently/well behind the arc AND play off ball, I don't see consistent perimeter SF shooting, and I see poor guard decision-making when it's not DLO (It's Clarkson), where Holiday carries that responsibility.

"Ball is a natural fit...." to D'Angelo Russell and Zubac. I cannot say the same of the rest of the Laker roster that can't shoot.

I'm starting to think that Jackson would be a better pick.

The look on Magic's face when Lonzo was going down in flames last night was priceless though.

I agree, but you need the players around him to do that. Imo we don't have it yet. He isn't taking over no games by himself.

In UCLA’s Sweet 16 loss to Kentucky, Lonzo was, at best, the third- or fourth-best player on a college floor, and even that is probably a stretch. Frankly, De’Aaron Fox made him look like a sophomore scrub called up from the JV team to be a varsity practice dummy.

I like Lonzo, but that is a poor excuse. If you're playing, you're playing. That's like all the Curry apologists from last year's finals. Kobe played with broken finger and rolled ankle and still won. That is a poor excuse.

I would caution passing judgement on a player based on one game. Andrew Wiggins scored 4 points in getting knocked out to end his college career. He turned out okay.

Wiggins has supreme athletic talent though. It's this type of comment that makes me want Fultz more and his team wasn't even in the tourney.

Super hesitant to draft Ball after seeing this game. He literally has no driving and in between game. Sure he makes pin point passes, but he can't break down a defense at all... and those step back awkward release 3s are gonna get sent back by NBA defenders

yea some good online draft guys, have serious concerns about Ball's ability to break down a defense

It's happened all year. Even the drives to the hoop were straight line drives with high degree of difficulty shots.

The 2point low volume isn't because UCLA's team is so great. It's low volume because, attacking the paint in the halfcourt isn't natural to Lonzo's game.
