We Knew The Lakers Would Be Fun, But Are They Already Good?
Quote: | One of the upshots of being bad for a longer stretch than any Lakers fan cares to remember is that they now have a bunch of lottery picks playing with and growing with each other — Julius Randle, D’Angelo Russell, and Brandon Ingram, to go along with late first-round pick Larry Nance, Jr. What’s been surprising so far is how the most heralded of the young Lakers have arguably been the least impressive. |

They literally gutted it out.
Great to see the team bounce back with the win at home. |

The Lakers start a string of 18 games in 30 days on Friday. They won't have consecutive days off for an entire month.

Lakers go to 7-5 with a victory over the Pesky Nets.
The schedule is about to get very real for them, but it’s a fun team.

I'd call it brutal not real.
I don't know if we are going to find it fun after a month, but it is going to be a good reality check because if we can keep our record somewhat around .50 after that it's a playoff team. |

Maybe we're the new thing that other team just don't have specific plan against us yet but maybe we just good! Stop Dlo, Randle and JC goes off. Stop the paint, Dlo, JC, Lou and SwaggyP be dropping 3s. Stop the perimeter, welcome to mozgov lob dunks... I love basketball! |

They're fun, but they're also GOOD. This game convinced me. Even if they flop on these games through December 7th, they've showed enough to prove that they'll bounce back and win games. _________________ Austin Reaves

Minus top scorer, Lakers prove point in loss to Spurs
Quote: | it feels shockingly safe to say, right now, that the Lakers aren’t just one of the NBA’s biggest surprises; they’re talented and well-coached enough to compete and beat any team -- at any time. Such a conclusion could easily be reached, even by skeptics, after Friday, when the Lakers, who had already thrashed Golden State at home this season, fought the always-excellent San Antonio Spurs to the final minutes even without point guard D’Angelo Russell, the Lakers’ leading scorer, who was sidelined with a sore left knee. |

Even in a loss, this was one of the most impressive efforts of this young season for these young Lakers. Playing without D'Angelo Russell, the Lakers fought the veteran Spurs to the very end and rallied after a 15-point deficit in the third quarter, proving again that these Lakers, under Luke Walton, are a very tough out, no matter who they're playing. |

Lakers defeated by Spurs, but provide better idea of who they are
Quote: | Even in a loss, the Lakers are showing us that they’re here to contend.
Most of us thought it would probably take a while for the Kobe Bryant era to wear off. After all, a lot of the team’s young core is plenty youthful and have a lot to learn.
Contrary to popular belief, the Lakers are really hanging in there with the best teams in the NBA. Earlier in the season, we saw them hand the mighty Warriors their second loss of the season.
Friday night was their test against San Antonio — and they passed it, even with a loss.
Los Angeles only scored 16 points in the opening quarter, but appeared to recover before halftime. They emerged for 36 points, tying with the Spurs at 52 apiece heading into the break.
San Antonio was able to control the flow of the game in the third quarter, jumping back to a double-digit lead. The Spurs eventually got the win, but didn’t escape completely unscathed. |

5 Surprising Statistics From LA’s Impressive Start
Quote: | The Los Angeles Lakers’ most impressive statistic thus far may actually be their win total through 13 games, but here are 5 more surprising stats from their hot start
For those of you who suffered patiently, or impatiently, through LA’s down years, rest assured that the new look Lakers are exactly what you’ve been waiting for.
Even after Friday’s hard fought loss against the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles is still one win over .500 with seven wins and six losses on the season bringing us directly into our first surprising stat. |

What I love about this years team, is that we're doing exactly what we set out to do. Get enough raised eyebrows in our general direction to make us feel like a 35+ win team ready to bust out. In turn, FAs will want to play with us and we'll have a much better idea of what holes we need to plug. |

The plan is out hustle them (which is difficult) and attack the paint. And hope they're not hitting their shots. But they have so many good shooters that its unlikely they'll all be off. they're a good team and they play hard. they can even hang with the top teams, what a difference a year and coach make. |

I think even if we drop off a bit as the season goes on, this hot start is going to do wonders for outsiders perspective of the team. Right now we're the surprise story of the NBA, and you're seeing all these positive headlines early in the year -- that's the narrative that's going to stick, even if we only win like 30 games instead of 35-40. |

The Lakers, under Luke Walton, are playing a fun and exciting brand of basketball.
The 3-ball is a big part of the game plan.
We are running sets to get open looks from beyond the arc and we are making the shots at a nice rate (35%).
Last season we were really bad at this. It's almost different as night and day.
3 point shooting percentages:
Lou Williams - 40%
D’Angelo Russell - 39%
Jordan Clarkson - 38%
Nick Young - 38% |
