I don't see enough people talking about Russell's release, and I feel they should be because it's one of the things, in my mind, that makes him such a special player. I think it might be even quicker, or as quick, as Curry's release. But it's even more unguardable because DLO launches it off of his fingertips from above his head.
Am I the only one seeing this? This guy could quite possibly break the 3 point record if he gets hot one night.

I don't know that he's quicker than curry, but yeah, it is smooth as hell. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel

Most effortless yes maybe.
I'm trying to think of someone who could compare but I can't. Steph is quite possibly quicker on the draw but smoother? Not so sure. Klay has an effortless shot but it's not quite as fluid, though that might be subjective. Who else is there?
Hard to know the effort invested in each shot by each player, however going solely based on what I see, it looks the most effortless of anyone I can think of. Curry is quick but it does look like he puts quite a bit of effort at times. Dlo looks like he's shooting a 3pt floater at times.

that's what the touch on his shot reminds me of. And it's funny that the OP mentioned how it comes off of DLo's fingertips/hands. His hand placement is really interesting to me and I think it factors into the amount of touch on his shot.

Lots of guys shoot off their fingertips above their heads. You might be responding to the fact that he has long arms so his release point might be a fraction higher than other guards, though that might be mitigated by his not getting great lift on his shots. He does have a quick release and smooth form.

One thing I will say is that his shooting stance always looks very narrow, and it seems like that helps him get shots off quickly. Kind of hard to explain what I mean

Yeah, that point was mainly in comparison to Curry.
Flat footed arm shots tend to look effortless because it kinda is and it's also the easiest way to shoot an outside shot imo. The Down side is it's easier to defend than someone who shoots like say Klay or Clarkson. Good Ball handling/quick release is almost a necessity when you shoot like that. when The defensive intensity picks up it can be hard to get a shot like that off consistently especially without a height advantage. There Is a reason coaches teach jump shots and not flat footed shots.
It's identical to Harden's shot. Kinda freaky how similar.
Better arc and less of a trebuchet motion on DLO's though.
Ya I don't think it's similar. imo
their strokes still aren't similar. Harden has way more of a dip, more cockback, a longer stroke, leaves his follow-through up longer. Also a more deliberate stance - As someone else mentioned, Russell's stance is so close and non methodical, he can just throw up a shot out of nowhere.
