Playoffs was always unlikely, and still is. But I think we'll be right there at the 9th/10th spot.
You generally assume you have to win 45 games to get a playoff spot. That would have been tough even if healthy. |

Minnesota keeps free falling, can't wait to see who they trade and rather they might want Deng. |

Ah yes, exactly what a struggling team needs: a struggling overpriced vet. |

That's the biggest question. rather Thibs thinks highly of Deng and pursues a trade to bring him to Minnesota. It's not like Minnesota has anything to lose and there reason can't be preserving cap space cause they have no chance to convince anyone to come to Minnesota. |

The Deng trade rumors make absolutely no sense. It seems like this is just being floated out there by hopeful fans. |

Of course, it doesn't make sense.
I don't think anyone is clamoring to get Deng from us.
If Deng gets traded I imagine we would have to give up something of value (a redundant asset probably).
I think we would try hard to find a deal for Deng if we really need the cap space. Like if a really good free agent is available and willing to sign with us.
Not really a fan of trading Deng away just to get rid of his contract right now. Especially since his value is at an all-time low. |

The minute Thibs tries to acquire Deng is the minute he loses control of basketball operations. |

If Russell and Gary Lance are back, we have 5 winnable games in a row:
vs Suns
vs Knicks
at Kings *
at Nets
at Sixers
If we lose today and win those 5, we stand at 15-14. Then, we have 2 tough ones:
at Cavs *
at Hornets
That should leave Lakers with a 15-16 record before a more balanced year end:
at Heat
at Magic * (if you're counting, yes, 7 road games straight)
vs Clippers
vs Jazz
vs Mavs
So, barring further injuries, starting 2017 with a 18-18 record is feasible.

DAAAMN, 7 road straight road games for our young team. Followed by playing a tough Clippers team.
Walton should be COY if we end up with 18-18 by this year's end. |

Lavine will end up being the scapegoat and Thibs will trade him even though he's been better than Wiggins. Thibs want vets that can defend. |

Interesting W/L projections.
In all honesty, if the Lakers can get to the New Year at 16-20 or 15-21 and start getting their players back I would be thrilled. Still would be meeting or exceeding expectations. Still over half a season to play to make up some ground in the standings.
I think the target needs to remain .500 ball. Last couple seasons 41 wins has earned a playoff spot. Even in the West.
This year I see a few WC teams battling into the final weeks to earn that 8th spot. Lakers need to play better defense and stop turning the ball over but a healthy Laker team can be in that discussion IMO. |

Portland has a tough schedule, if the Lakers want to gain ground now is the time with the schedule getting soft and the team slowing getting healthy. |

Tomorrow is a pretty big game. We need that one. _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Whatever, pow, three. I love the Zen, though." |

The biggest concern isn't whether we can make the playoffs this season but if we can ever be an elite team with Randle and Clarkson being major pieces. _________________ Go LA! |

That 7 game road trip will either end up giving us a new (hope) or it will completely crush our season. |

I'm not really thinking about playoffs at the moment, but Portland is still clinging to the 8th spot with all the western teams below the Lakers losing consecutive games this week. No one really progressed.
So that's, you know, something. _________________ Austin Reaves
