Just announced on TNT: The NBA will hold a NBA's 60 Greatest Player's ceremony at this year's All-Star game to celebrate it's 60th Anniversary. |

Ofcourse.
Pippen made it in the last one as did Shaq (before he won a ring)
Kobe has 3 rings and has the 2nd highest score ever in the NBA. Highest out of non-bigmen.
It's not about making the cut with Kobe - rather how high on that list he should be.

If he doesn't, then the only explaination is that Shaquelle O'neal is the chairman of the board of selectors...
He will make the list, with Honors... |

He should and likely will. His career is already remarkable and it is just getting started.

This seems like a dumb question, but this is the NBA's top 50, plus a new 10 players right? I just hope they don't add more than 10 and bump a player or two. After the Montana/Bradshaw drama, major controversy can start from anything now adays. Kobe has to be on the list. |

I only pose the question because we all saw how Bob McAdoo got screwed over in favor of other less deserving players who rode the coattails of other NBA greats and never had the burden of having to carry bad teams.
I'm sure McAdoo will get in this time because of all the uproar that was raised after he was left off the 50 Greatest Players List, but that's only because they decided not to wait another 50 years to update their list.
I do believe Kobe will be selected because he's playing on such an unbelievable level right now and is having the best individual season of his career. Unlike McAdoo who was long retired, Kobe is at the forefront of the NBA. However, that assumes the NBA won't take the cowardly route of factoring in Kobe's not-soon-to-be forgotten SA trial and decide to wait until it's 70th NBA Anniversary. |

I doubt Kobe gets mentioned in the top 60. There's just too much hate going on out there and to acknowledge Kobe as one of the top 60 would go against that grain. However, I do see the NBA placing Lebron into the top 60. That's just the way the NBA works. _________________ I'm like a Hadouken, down-right Fierce! |

Perhaps, but I wouldn't put it past the NBA to leave Kobe off the list. _________________ I'm like a Hadouken, down-right Fierce! |

I didn't say that Wang Zhi Zhi would make the list. And why would you pick him out of a bunch of players? Due to your perceived notions against Asians? You could have picked anyone else like Madsen or Luke Walton or Samaki Walker to make your point too, you know. Anyway, besides the little dig at Asians, what is your point? _________________ I'm like a Hadouken, down-right Fierce! |

Well... let's see... 62 in 3 quarters. 81 in a game. 3 rings...
The NBA loses all credibility if they exclude him.
Not some...
ALL.
You wanna live in a world where you believe they'll do anything to screw over Kobe... go right ahead. They may begrudingly accept he's one of the greats... but they can't avoid him. |

How did Bernard King not make the top 50?
People think Elton Brand doesn't get enough credit (he doesn't), but NO ONE gives King his dues. He should be in the top 60, should have been in the top 50.
And yes, Kobe will be in the top 60. _________________ bonerkillcollective.tumblr.com - peep our art. |

Actually, I don't have to "wanna" live in a world where the'll do anything to screw over Kobe. I'm already living in it. How many haters came out when Kobe scored 62 pts in 3 quarters? How many haters came out when he scored 81 pts? Kobe is one of the few athletes who balances upon that fine line between love and hate. It's the reality of the matter. So therefore, I would not be surprised if Kobe doesn't get into that list. _________________ I'm like a Hadouken, down-right Fierce! |

Speaking of credibility when will the NBA re-deisgn the Lakers Dynasty DVD box set to include a picture of Kobe somewhere in the set? The Shaq/Kobe dynasty has pictures of Shaq, Fisher and Fox in the box set to represent that era. |

You do realize Kobe had the 2nd most votes in the All-star and do you know realize the NBA is gonna pick not the fans. |
