I rarely put any stock (stalk) into what Kenny Smith says.
I dont know why. I don't know if it's because he tries to sound smart or philosophical or what. But something about him. But then again, it just might be me.

Honestly, I don't mind the team being under the radar. Like the Dodgers this season.

IMO the 19 point deficit had to more with the Kings acting all that on national TV, that team just wanted to play like it's the finals, the Lakers put them in there place at the end. and that's why the Kings won't win anything as long as they have jokesters.

Was the 2nd half the result of the Lakers playing like its the finals?

It's the result of the Lakers finally getting there act together.

Seriously doubt anyone in that locker room is saying 'Hey, we came back from a 19 point deficit against the Kings, I bet we could get away with it against SA, too!'

Come on.

This is the beginning of the national commentary about the Lakers changing. It wasn't smart or even cool to think the team was going to win more than 25 games. Now that someone has taken a closer look at what's happening in L.A., people will have to stop just saying the team won, they'll have to discuss where this team is headed now that they've been badly misjudged by everyone nationwide.

I think I may be the only one in the forum who thinks they'll make the playoffs.

I think they'll win at least mid to upper 40's and that could lead to the playoffs.

Yeah, no. I've been saying they could make the playoffs as an 8th seed since Luke was hired.

Luke's showing signs of becoming a very good coach. I didn't give him as much credit for coaching the Dubs to the record he did because of the talent they had. Maybe I should had given him more.

Amen to that. I watched all 246 games the last 3 years of dreadful basketballness. I forced myself to watch them all so I could enjoy the fruits of now and beyond.

If they make the playoffs, the NBA may give Luke Walton next years Coach of the Year to boot.

Given the disclaimer that it's very very early in the season, if we can continue to play at this pace, and if the league sees how happy the players are with Luke, there's a possibility that we can attract a first-rate free agent this summer.

Its a process

To me what they are showing is that....unlike last year....when the team gets hit with adversity they battle

Now they are taking it a step further and finding a way to close out games and get a the W

Grinding games out and beating teams that you actually SHOULD beat gets you to the playoffs.

If this team this season will end up with 50% winning ratio... Mission accomplished.
