Donald Trump congratulating Jones and yet not giving him credit for winning but rather blaming write-in votes

Congratulations to Doug Jones on a hard fought victory. The write-in votes played a very big factor, but a win is a win. The people of Alabama are great, and the Republicans will have another shot at this seat in a very short period of time. It never ends!

Anyone who still identifies as a Republican is dead to me. They don't get any credit from me. The Republican Party is the most dangerous terrorist organization in the world.

Thank you black voters of Alabama who turned out in historic numbers and voted for Jones by over 95% to 5% ratio. And they did that while being targeted by the Republican Party to disenfranchise their right to vote.

Black women tried last year with 96%, and the 53% stabbed us in the back.

Even tonight, 90% of Republican women who voted voted for that pedophile. 90%...these women are dangerous.

Or as I said on Twitter tonight, "As a white woman, I just have to say WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH WHITE WOMEN???"

After successful suffrage, white women had a choice to make: ally with women of color and make a new paradigm, or ally with the people who had the existing power and accept some of their privilege secondhand. The latter was easier and did not mean violating tribal boundaries.

Yes, and I think that's why there's a split between single women vs married women, and college vs non-college. Married and non-college more dependent on real and perceived benefits of privilege. But you know what, it's 2017 not 1917.

I hate everyone who opposed Roy Moore, so I'd laugh if he won, but I secretly hope Moore loses, so Mo Brooks can replace the Dem in 2 years.

I think of her as a reincarnated vulture. Extra long neck to dig deep into carcasses for scraps of rotten entrails. She's a wily creature.

The Dems were in a win-win situation. If they lost the race, they could have connected Moore to every Republican running in the country. If they won the race, they can energize their base for 2018 and would have picked up a seat already in their quest to re-take the Senate.

Coulter is right about Mo Brooks. Even though he's Moore without the pedophilia, he'll be a strong candidate in a couple years. But then again, Alabamans might actually get to know Jones and like him. The Dems have to let him vote with the Republicans on some issues so he can make the case he's not just another progressive. This is Alabama.

I said earlier in a post the Alabama election would be a eyeopener, good or bad. I offer it was a eyeopener to the Black community in some respects.

It's been suggested the Black vote, Black women in particular were a primary reason Jones was elected. If that in fact is true it's something the communities should be made aware of. To some it may be a revelation.

Women are more and more becoming relevant. Their voices are escalating in decibels that warrant attention. If they go on strike (don't insert a sexual connotation) men may wake up.

If anything good has come from this administration it's the waking of the nation. More people have taken notice of the workings of Washington (corruption) and will be more inclined to go to the polls.

I envision a good 2018 for Democrats if they don't drop the ball.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Latest on the Republican tax overhaul (all times local):

11:56 a.m.

House and Senate GOP leaders have forged an agreement on a sweeping overhaul of the nation's tax laws. That paves the way for final votes next week to slash taxes for businesses and give most people tax cuts starting next year.

Top GOP aides say the deal was reached on Wednesday. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the deal. Details still need to be drafted and assessed by congressional scorekeepers but the final House-Senate compromise is on track to be unveiled this week.

The measure would give President Donald Trump his first major victory in Congress. It fulfills a longstanding goal by top Republicans such as Speaker Paul Ryan to rewrite the loophole-cluttered tax code.

The measure has come under assault by Democrats who say it is unfairly tilted in favor of business and the wealthy.

Thanks for posting . I read the full story a few minutes ago. After you get past the GOP talking points, this is them counting their chickens before they hatch again. THEY HAVEN'T WRITTEN DOWN THE DETAILS YET, SO IT HASN'T BEEN SCORED YET. This is like 3-card monty. The GOP thinks if they say "it's a done deal" then people will stop protesting. It's not done. People are still protesting. The couple of GOP senators who are waiting to see the final deficit numbers and impact of ACA/Medicare won't sign off until there is something for them to sign off on.

Keep protesting and calling.

I wish him a speedy recovery, but Mo Brooks has said some incredibly stupid things on healthcare and taxes over the years. Chris Hayes has invited him a bunch of times to his show, and it's amazing the stuff that comes out of that guy's mouth. As I said earlier, in terms of public policy, he is just another Roy Moore, but without the baggage.

This will be tested again in 2018, but it has worked fairly well with Democratic senators in deep-red states: Joe Manchin (WV), Heidi Heitkamp (ND), Claire McCaskill (MO), Joe Donnelly (ID), Jon Tester (MT). The last thing these senators need (as well as Jones) is a primary challenger from the left.

From what I've heard (Lawrence O'Donnell talked about it last week), the conference committee - historically speaking - isn't much of a committee and the most important stuff is done in secret between the two leaders of the two houses.

Omarosa Manigault throws tantrum, has to be escorted from White House after chief of staff fires her

Omarosa Manigault Newman just couldn’t accept the fact that she was being fired — again.

The former “The Apprentice” contestant turned political aide threw a tantrum in the White House and demanded she be allowed to speak with President Trump on Wednesday as chief of staff John Kelly gave her the boot, sources told the Daily News.

“General Kelly didn't allow her to speak to him. That’s why she was cursing and threatening,” according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Manigault Newman was then unceremoniously escorted from the West Wing.

“It got physical and she had to be removed,” the source said.

Michelle Fischbach, the President of the Minnesota Senate, is set to become the next Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota after Tina Smith resigns in order to accept Al Franken's vacant US Senate seat. Fischbach has stated that she intends to serve both as Lieutenant Governor and remain in the Senate, and it's not clear that she has the right to do so, despite her desire to maintain a 1-seat GOP majority there. This may end up being decided by the Minnesota Supreme Court.

Another Repuklican bent on serving the party not the people. Trump wanted Moore for control of a house, she's in the same mode. Not having knowledge of can she, can't she, I don't see how she can. Anyone know for sure?

Iteresting piece of data from Alabama exit polls: evangelical white women 76 - 22 Moore; non-evangelical white women 74 - 21 Jones! That is a huge huge differential.

So there's that.
