I think LS inferred correctly, especially when you review his earlier posts on the matter. It's from the "greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist" bag of tools, and I've heard and seen it so often I call it out by rote these days.

Thank you and LS for your perspectives. I want to hear what ring's perspective of classical is. It may not be in concert with yours and LS's. His explanation may make sense.

The Devil??? Strange coming from you, a Atheist.

How ironic that you'd say this in the "Political Discussion" thread, quite possibly, the most dishonest thread title on the site. Why not just call it the "Leftist Views Only" thread?

If this were true, you would see non-Leftists viewpoints being deleted simply based on content alone. But that's not happening is it? Quite the opposite, there are pages and pages of discussion where non-Leftist posts are sitting there for people's reading.

Quote:
It's frustrating because I'm not a Trump supporter. I voted (although admittedly begrudgingly so) for Hillary and have maintained that from the beginning. I think overall, Trump is an awful president, but I just don't think he's a racist in the classical sense of the term.

I see, so just because he doesn't throw around the N-Word and wear a white wizard's hood or a swastika, it's all good. His slightly more subtle forms of overt racism are all good and should just be ignored - despite the obvious damage they cause to the society.

Quote:
Just curious OL -- has there been a single non leftist perspective that someone has brought in to this so-called discussion that you, or others, have either:

i) welcomed, or
ii) considered to be intellectually honest but you simply and amicably disagree philosophically, or
iii) did not call said person an -ist or -phobe term

Because it looks a lot like a Lakers Discussion thread masquerading as a General Basketball Thread.

See, this is where the intellectual dishonesty (on your part) comes in. Since the very beginning of this thread, and throughout the history of its predecessor which got locked, LS (just for one) has been very clear that ALL viewpoints are not only welcomed, but encouraged. Now, "welcoming" something does not mean that it will not be weighed on its merits or lack thereof. You're off the mistaken belief that welcoming an opinion means that it will not be met with rebuttal. That's not how any meaningful discussion occurs.

The American people (well ~43% anyway) got some 'splainin' to do.

The first ranking of the American Presidents with Trump has been announced.

Now, guess which one ended up 44th or last?

The NY Times has the story, but some may not have access, so go here

(Oh, and good job Barack O, coming in at #8.) (Well deserved.)

We need to be careful about "whitewashing" the other Presidents . . .

Good one. We do need laugh-out-loud humor in the Topic.

Pennsylvania Supreme Court has issued a new congressional map for the 2018 elections.

The Dems could gain a few seats just based on this new map.

It's when you lynch a colored person. But Bach, Beethoven, or Mozart is playing in the background.
How have you not heard of this? You're coming off as a coastal elite.

If you're referring to me, I'm not. I understand what racism is and how it applies. I asked a question. It's been answered by multiple posters but not the one it was directed to.

Of the 789 stories that came out this weekend, how about the NYT story that Trump has a Harvey Weinstein-esque system to suppress allegations of sexual misconduct, infidelity, etc.? Nobody got time for that, I guess. Not even a blip.

Can you imagine if Obama had 5 kids with 3 wives, had been accused of sexually harassing 20 women, had multiple affairs after Michelle gave birth, including with porn stars, playboy bunnies and models and paid them hush money right before the election where he beat John McCain?

Me neither. And the fact the bulk of the GOP is okay with it exemplifies the underlying values of the GOP and right-wing media: racism, misogyny, hypocrisy and a clinging to white privilege at all costs.

The real questions are: Why didn't Obama do something about the Russian interference in our election??? And why the hell is the left focused on guns???

You know ringfinger's schtick by now. He's not interested in honest answers, he just wants to be a contrarian going against the flow.
