The U.S. Supreme Court decides to leave the new Pennsylvania map in place. Dems will gain 5 or 6 seats in that state alone. They need 23 to take the House.

This was a good one. PA state Supreme court ruled Republicans gerrymandered it (duh), but the district lines they drew were even more favorable to Democrats than the maps Democrats proposed.

To permanently delete your Facebook profile it has to be done through an external link not provided on the profile.

Once you confirm deletion it takes 6 weeks to “delete your profile”. Catch being if you log in during that time it undoes the deletion and makes the profile live again.

My profile has been gone for about 3 months. Although I’m pretty sure there’s a copy of it floating around somewhere with a right wing whacko making new friends and spreading propaganda in my name.

Just a refresher on the Mueller team for context of current news:

Quote:
Members of the team include:

Greg Andres: former deputy assistant attorney general, managed foreign bribery division[49]
Rush Atkinson: trial attorney in the DOJ fraud section[48]
Peter Carr: team spokesman, a veteran DOJ spokesman[50]
Ryan K. Dickey: a veteran cyber prosecutor from the Justice Department’s computer crime and intellectual-property section[51]
Brock W. Domin: FBI Special Agent.[52][53]
Michael Dreeben: Deputy Solicitor General, who oversees the Justice Department's criminal appellate docket; an expert in criminal law[54][46][48]
Kyle Freeny: attorney for the money laundering unit at the Department of Justice[55]
Andrew D. Goldstein: former leader of the public corruption unit, United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York[56][48]
Adam Jed: Attorney in the DOJ Civil Division, appellate section[57]
Robert Mueller: team leader; Special counsel for the United States Department of Justice
Lisa C. Page (departed): DOJ trial attorney in the FBI's Criminal Division Organized Crime Section; formerly an attorney in the office of the FBI general counsel.[47] Her departure from the team was reported in late September 2017.[58]
Elizabeth Barchas Prelogar: Assistant with the Solicitor General's office; fluent in Russian; former law clerk to Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Elena Kagan[59][48]
James L. Quarles III: former assistant special prosecutor on the Watergate Special Prosecution Force[48]

Brian M. Richardson[60]
Brandon Van Grack: United States Department of Justice National Security Division Prosecutor[48]
Andrew Weissmann: Chief of the DOJ Criminal Division's Fraud Section[39][48]
Aaron Zebley: former chief of staff to Mueller at the FBI[48]
Aaron S. J. Zelinsky: an attorney on detail from the United States Attorney for the District of Maryland[64][65]
Mueller has also added unidentified agents of the IRS Criminal Investigations Division to his team. "This unit—known as CI—is one of the federal government's most tight-knit, specialized, and secretive investigative entities. Its 2,500 agents focus exclusively on financial crime, including tax evasion and money laundering. A former colleague of Mueller's said he always liked working with IRS' special agents, especially when he was a U.S. Attorney."[66]

Politico reported on August 30, 2017, that Mueller’s team is also working with New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman on its investigation into Paul Manafort and his financial transactions.[67]

They do. While the agreement itself was written using the aliases, an attachment to the agreement specified the true names. Doing so allows them to decouple the agreement from the people involved under some circumstances.

Somebody's going to jail. These people are use to cushy lifestyles. Jail is not something they ever envisioned. Donald has to be getting very nervous. Who'll be the first to flip?

Jim Carrey's political paintings are hilarious.
Many on the right think the paintings are "over the line".
To some, the paintings are inappropriate but all the heinous (bleep) Trump has said and done is fine because ... tax cuts and ... the stock market. And did you see those job numbers?!
The hypocrisy is overwhelming at times. The right holding Jim Carrey to a higher moral standard than the President.

There's nothing wrong with making and using data models. The issue is when you steal data from 50,000,000 people without their permission, use Russian cutouts and bots to influence and spread fake propaganda to those 50,000,000, using foreign actors and foreign money, and then the Trump campaign participated in that criminal conspiracy.

now that's how you deal with corrupt politicians

https://www.yahoo.com/news/former-french-president-sarkozy-police-custody-source-080125336.html

Ex-French president Sarkozy held on Gadhafi claims - source

PARIS (AP) -- Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy was placed in custody on Tuesday as part of an investigation that he received millions of euros in illegal financing from the regime of the late Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi.

A judicial source with direct knowledge of the case told The Associated Press that Sarkozy was being held at the Nanterre police station, west of Paris. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

Sarkozy and his former chief of staff have denied wrongdoing in the case, which involves funding for his winning 2007 presidential campaign.

Though an investigation has been underway since 2013, the case gained traction some three years later when French-Lebanese businessman Ziad Takieddine told the online investigative site, Mediapart, that he delivered suitcases from Libya containing 5 million euros ($6.2 million) in cash to Sarkozy and his former chief of staff Claude Gueant.

A lawyer for Sarkozy did not immediately respond to a message from the AP seeking comments.

Investigators are examining claims that Gadhafi's regime secretly gave Sarkozy 50 million euros overall for the 2007 campaign. Such a sum would be more than double the legal campaign funding limit at the time of 21 million euros. In addition, the alleged payments would violate French rules against foreign financing and declaring the source of campaign funds.

Also in the news: Trump Jr's wife is divorcing him and it's come out that he cheated on her with a former Celebrity Apprentice contestant/singer -- while his wife was pregnant. The douche doesn't fall far from the bag.

I don't really care what people do in their family matter when it comes to fidelity. But can't help think if The Obamas had something remotely similar to this, how the Christian-right would have destroyed that family

There's no point in comparing the two. If you swapped them, Obama would have been impeached and removed from office in the first month and his entire cabinet would be under house arrest.

Trump has no idea how deficits work. He's attacking a economic deficiency from a business rather than world point of view.

I don't understand deficits and there affects. We've been in debt since Noah landed the arc. It's a paper trail. How are the debts paid? What difference do they really make?

My limited knowledge tells me the value of the dollar depends on it somewhat. The cost, as with everything else, is footed by the consumer.

If ever there was a need for a politician the time is now.

Trump has no alliance with anyone but Trump

This is horrible

Reluctantly I have concluded that President Trump is a serious threat to US national security. He is refusing to protect vital US interests from active Russian attacks. It is apparent that he is for some unknown reason under the sway of Mr Putin.
