John Legend Verified account @johnlegend
I imagine there's some comfort in imagining a future without racism and projecting that onto the present. Thinking if we just deny the truth, it doesn't exist. If history is erased, we don't have to deal with its consequences. However...
Far too many people don't have the luxury of closing their eyes and ears. They feel it in their lives and can't act like what they see and know doesn't exist.
They know their family was destroyed by deportation or incarceration. They know their loved one was denied safe harbor because of their religion. They know their son or daughter was shot because their skin color evoked fear
They see the statistics about black applications for real estate or loans or employment being turned away because their name was Jamal and not James
I love that great, brilliant artists have the power to imagine a better future. But artists can't be blind to the truth.
The defining trait of Trump's campaign and political profile was his embrace of white supremacy. He made it clear every time he spoke. Some serious cognitive dissonance to ignore that for the other x% you might find appealing. I guess I agree with >1% of anyone's thoughts though
Anyway, y'all need to come to Montgomery and see this memorial

Couldn't have said it better myself.

All you need to know about Kanye's judgment is that he married Kim Kardashian and thinks Trump loves him like a brother.

this is hilarious.. the lawyer for the MAGAlodyte

Quote:
The lawyer representing The Happiest Hour, Elizabeth Conway, argued that he was not discriminated against because only religious – not political – beliefs are protected under state and city discrimination law.

“Supporting Trump is not a religion,” Conway argued.

Piatek’s attorney Paul Liggieri responded in court, “The purpose of the hat is that he wore it because he was visiting the 9/11 Memorial.”

“He was paying spiritual tribute to the victims of 9/11. The Make American Great Again hat was part of his spiritual belief,” Liggieri claimed. "Rather than remove his hat, instead he held true to his spiritual belief and was forced from the bar,” Liggieri told Justice David Cohen, the New York Post reported.

The judge pressed Liggieri on the spiritual nature of his client's belief, saying the bar staff would not be aware of Piatek’s specific religious philosophies.

“How many members are in this spiritual program that your client is engaged in?” the judge asked.

“Your honor, we don’t allege the amount of individuals,” Liggieri said.

“So, it’s a creed of one?” the judge asked.

“Yes, your honor,” Liggieri replied, the New York Post reported.

The judge eventually made a ruling on the matter, saying the incident amount to nothing more than a “petty slight,” the New York Post reported.

“Plaintiff does not state any faith-based principle to which the hat relates,” Judge Cohen said. “Here the claim that plaintiff was not served and eventually escorted out of the bar because of his perceived support for President Trump is not outrageous conduct.”

I have never had any respect for his judgment, but this is off the judgement charts. This is psychotic levels of tone deafness and village idiot ignorance.

Which makes for an interesting thought experiment. If Watergate history repeats itself and the VP resigns before the President does (or is forced out), whom does Trump choose as the replacement VP, and therefore his own successor?

kanye just proves what i've said here. to vote for or support trump you have to be mentally ill. there's no way around it.

Last year I think it was... he had a concert in Sacramento where he only did like 3 songs and then went on a 15-20 minute rant about a bunch of random shtt. After he was done, he dropped the mic and left the stage. Show was over. The guy is a moron.

There's been a concerted effort from Trump and his 'cult' to spin white supremacy/bigotry/false sense of white being victim into 'equal' with actual bigotry/racism, that if a minority can claim discrimination, so can a white person regardless of how ridiculous the claim might be... make no mistake, this 'believe' is widely held by the cult. This lawyer's defense is a perfect example, we'll see more of this

Nearly 60 Percent of Republicans Don't Want a Woman President in Their Lifetime, Poll Finds

YouGov also asked, "Do you personally hope that the United States elects a woman president of the United States in your lifetime, or not?" Sixty-six percent of all respondents said yes, while 34 percent said no.

A comfortable majority of Republicans—59 percent—responded no, they don't hope to see a woman president in their lifetime, according to YouGov. In comparison, 89 percent of Democrats and 63 percent of Independents responded that yes, they hoped to see a woman president before they died.

I'm sure this is shocking news to everyone. Especially CL.

Kanye will have fantastic record download #s due to this drama.
But the recording industry doesn't pay as well as it used to.
Artists make alot of their paper touring. We'll see if people on the coasts show up to his concerts. He may need to add more shows in less lucrative fly over states. We'll see what the ven diagram of Kanye listeners and MAGAers looks like.
I could see his shoe and clothing lines being negatively affected as well.

So now he admits it. Trump fell to Avenatti's trap again. The dude's a beast. It would be hilarious, but fitting that a porn star is the downfall of Trump.

Naw. People are stupid. The people who go to Kanye shows and buy his cheese merchandise don't give a crap.

So in a rant to Fox and Friends, he admitted that he did stay in Moscow, called Comey a liar for writing a memo that he said he didn't, admitted that Cohen was representing him on the Stormy Daniels issue after denying it, and went so nuts about going after the justice department that they actually cut off his call.

I'm laughing, crying and trying to not run to the liquor store before lunch.
