The job of CoS is open. Trump says people are clamoring to fill the post. All I've read are those who are taking their names off the list. Trump is a embarrassment. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Ryan Zinke stepping down. Ethics vios up the ying for the post-Seal Team 6 gentleman. Republican pride and all of its tenets fills these guys more often than not meaning a good number of them peak at "Navy SEAL". The ones who like the camera will fill more government roles as the time goes on, bet on it, red states in particular. Zinke and/or recent House Rep Scott Taylor are in every SEAL docu there is. These guys do very heroic things while enlisted, but when they leave the Navy and join the government, they are usually just another ChreeeISchin conservative. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL

Thanks CL. I've taken time off from watching the news, it's to depressing. I can't remember the last time I read or heard anything except Trump corruption. I have the western channel on DTV. Been watching a lot of westerns. This morning Hopalong Cassidy made his usual pitch to youth. It was about trusting and respecting policemen. He said don't call them cops, they don't like it, call them officer and trust them. Remember that show was in the late 40's early 50's. I don't think he would have made that pitch today.
Quote: | While Mulvaney remained in the running this week, he had also indicated that he was not interested in the chief of staff role, with a source close to him instead indicating Mulvaney was interested in moving up to lead the Treasury or Commerce departments. |

The whole thing is a sham. Mulvaney isn't even leaving his old job, and Trump doesn't really want anyone telling him what to do. So, perfect solution. A pretend COS. |

A family of grifters from the start:
NYT: As the Trumps Dodged Taxes, Their Tenants Paid a Price
Quote: | They were collateral damage as Donald J. Trump and his siblings dodged inheritance taxes and gained control of their father’s fortune: thousands of renters in an empire of unassuming red-brick buildings scattered across Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.
Those buildings have been home to generations of strivers, municipal workers and newly arrived immigrants. When their regulated rents started rising more quickly in the 1990s, many tenants had no idea why. Some heard that the Trump family had spent millions on building improvements, but they remained suspicious. |
Quote: | As it turned out, a hidden scam lurked behind the mysterious increases. In October, a New York Times investigation into the origins of Mr. Trump’s wealth revealed, among its findings, that the future president and his siblings set up a phony business to pad the cost of nearly everything their father, the legendary builder Fred C. Trump, purchased for his buildings. The Trump children split that extra money.
Padding the invoices had a secondary benefit for the Trumps, allowing them to inflate rent increases on their father’s rent-regulated apartments.
“The higher the markup would be, the higher the rent that might be charged,” Robert Trump, the president’s brother, once admitted in a sworn deposition obtained by The Times.
The president and his siblings have long since sold their father’s buildings and moved on with their inherited fortunes. But for tenants, the insidious effects of the scheme continue to this day. |

The frustrating thing about seeing all the dirt come to light is realizing that nothing is really going to come from it until the damage has been done. They can't prosecute a sitting President and impeachment will go nowhere. Trump might face some consequences once he is out of office, but in the meantime he's there in the WH screwing this country up for at least 2 more years. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Frustrating is a understatement. I hope those seated that go along with him fall as hard as he does. They are just as abhorrent. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

We gotta hope Cohen is really the gamechanger pundits say he is because we don't know of any Deep Throat or of any John Dean in government or the FBI. If one or the other exist, they're out of public purview. If not Cohen, hopefully his offices, apartment, cellphones, and security deposit box were good as gold. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL

How can this administration govern with so many administration policies being examined or found to be illegal? Trump treats the Oval Office as if it's a reality show. As I said in the past, I have faith a 242 year old institution will survive The Donald.

Ok lawyers, Why is Giuliani boldly not worry about the legal aspect of his statements on tv, including that the president might’ve lied but wasn’t under oath. Is this because there is no path to get trump, the president, not the citizen, legally? Thus Giuliani goes straight to trying to win politically or the court of public opinion? |

Or akin to Trump talking about ethics, truth, taxes, his marriage, banging his own daughter, the environment, the military, taxes, health care, history, religion or reality. |

I see where you are going, but it's not an accurate or fair analogy.
Either way, the bottomline is Comey is trying to right the wrongs of his past. That's entirely appropriate. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Comey’s book is excellent. While it may be an attempt to put himself in a positive light, it does give context around why he made the decisions that he did. No question he made mistakes, but he cares greatly about ethics, morality, and being a responsible person. |

I don't think it has anything to do with the criminal immunity of a sitting president. Rather, I think Guiliani is trying to hammer home a specific point, which is that lying by itself is not a crime.
If this were otherwise, almost everyone would have to go to prison since I wager a significant proportion of the population has lied at some point of their lives or another in a public setting. Lying as a criminal offence has to be within a certain context as prescribed by law. Lying under oath on a witness stand is one of them. I'm not an expert on federal criminal law but Alan Dershowitz is. He argues that even under an FBI examination, to be an offence the lie has to be of a fact material to the investigation. That might be other legal experts who disagree with Dershowitz but what Dershowitz argues is usually a plausible interpretation of the current state of the law.
Long story short, Guiliani is a lawyer and cares only about the legal question of whether a crime has been committed. Even if it is admitted that the President has lied, as long as the lie does fall under one of the contexts specified by law, the President would not have committed a crime, although Trump might have acted immorally in doing so. Guiliani's statements could - and probably has - damaged the president in the eyes of public opinion but Guiliani is indifferent to that since it is not his job to morally justify Trump's actions. Guiliani's job rather is to hammer home to potential jurors that the law distinguishes between lying as a crime and lying as a moral sin. Only the former is punishable. |

Giuliani and Trump are simply engaged in gaslighting. If they say enough outrageous stuff over and over again, they hope it becomes normalized, or at least loses its impact. And they move the goalposts constantly, by design, again to diminish the value of facts. His transgressions become talismans to his base. _________________ “We must always take sides. I've really been enjoying these 2 youtube channels lately.
Three Arrows: LINK
Shaun: LINK
They show what "respected" alt-right "thinkers" say about a topic. And then explain why they are wrong. Kinda like what Jon Stewart used to do on the Daily Show.
Youtube is drowning in overt and covert alt-right content. So these 2 channels are refreshing for that medium. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |
