def smart politic. Do you personally want the impeachment as a citizen (I do, just the fact that Trump collude with Russia which makes him a traitor) or it's better if he's used as politic wins (as noted in article) for you? |

I want to get him out of office as soon as possible. That's more important than anything. I also want him tried and punished. If impeaching him is going to end with him staying in office and a bunch of political capital wasted to "do the right thing", I'm not for it. I don't believe in hollow gestures. The first rule of exercising power is to have power. Never trade power for feeling good about yourself (there are times when you trade power for doing the right thing, but saying we impeached him isn't that). _________________ “We must always take sides. Couldn't agree more. We as a country allowed him to be President. And it's up to us as a country to fix it.
Impeach Trump, and inevitably another version of him will rise in his place. Defeat Trump in 2020, and you have more hope of discouraging future Trump-like people from running. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

That's a great way of putting it.
As much as I would like him goner this instant, I think without the bombshell (and probably even with) that Pelosi mentions, impeachment just plays into the Trump-as-persecuted-good-guy narrative the GOP/Fox et al play up. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Just you wait, the repubs can die on their hill of "presidents can't be indicted" for FEDERAL crimes...
New York state is gonna get him for all the crimes that are still within the statute of limitations....

I hope I'm wrong but the longer the judge speaks the lighter the sentence |

So, roughly 6 years in prison. These were state prosecutions right? Can't be pardoned? |

he'll be out in about 2024...no federal parole but time off for good behavior
trump could pardon him but with trump's loyalty is a one way street so it will only happen if it benefits him somehow |

What surprised me was the sentence was consecutive. I thought it would be concurrent. This judge didn't go for the apology. She didn't consider the no collusion. She didn't go for Paul's games. I don't know how much real time he'll stay in jail. Good behavior and what not may shorten his stay.
There goes the pone, TV and Internet.
For a man who previously appeared in court in a wheel chair, Manafort walked rather briskly when leaving court this morning. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

So 47 months for the money fraud
43 months for treason
what's the next charge by NY? |

Based on what I've heard from experts, the most likely outcome in New York are civil penalties, but criminal penalties are also possible but the burden of proof is much higher. The worst thing that can happen for Trump is for the Trump Organization to be dissolved by the state of New York, like his "foundation" was. _________________ ¡Hala Madrid!

The right-wing republicans bright idea is to lie the most outrageous self-aggrandising lie you can think of and hope that the truth doesn't shout you down
Today's true American heroes are the people that shouted down Manafort's liar lawyer |

Listening to CNN. It's asking could Manafort have a double jeopardy case? Does the judges language in the sentencing today open that door. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

To update the previous post: Manafort indicted by Manhattan DA on 16 counts.
This is the same DA that was going to indict Ivanka and Don Jr. a few years ago, but changed his mind after a contribution by one of Trump's lawyers. _________________ ¡Hala Madrid!

16 counts he has already admitted guilt to if I'm not mistaken |

Do you envision another large contribution in the very near future? _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Normally, due to the laws related to sovereignty, a state can charge a defendant with essentially the same crime as the feds did, or vice versa. NY has tougher laws, but they are confident their indictments meet the standard. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. It's also something they take into heavy consideration before moving forward. They wouldn't have brought the charges without going over every angle first. |
