Well, North Korea could renounce terrorism, end acts of military aggression, and cease producing weapons of mass destruction. That would help make friends with the U.S. That would go a long way to ensure Kim Jong-un that we wouldn't undermine the stability of his regime.

It worked for Gaddafi, didn't it?

I'm not surprised. Some posters seemingly were pointing to a buoyant stock market that happy days were here again, in that the economy was poised to bloom under Trump. That was a gross oversimplification. It had less to do with the economy, and more to do with anticipated financial and environmental deregulation, both of which are dangerous.

BREAKING REPUBLICANS CAN'T GOVERN NEWS!!!!!

Congress has passed a budget!!!

Well actually it's just an extension.

Okay they managed to agree on 1 week.

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/lawmakers-pass-short-term-spending-bill-averting-shutdown-for-now/

Quote:
The short-term bill, known as a continuing resolution (CR), extends fiscal 2016 government funding levels through next Friday. Lawmakers are expected to reach the longer-term deal soon, which is known as an omnibus spending package.

Negotiators overcame two major obstacles this week to reach an agreement on the omnibus when the White House conceded that the administration doesn't need funding for the border wall yet and dropped its threat to halt Obamacare payments.

House Democrats on Thursday threatened to oppose the CR if House Republicans decided to hold a floor vote on their revised health care bill to repeal and replace Obamacare, but GOP leaders decided late Thursday that they would delay the vote. They spent the day lobbying undecided lawmakers and those who are against the new version.

This obsession Republicans have with all things Obama is just weird.

I chuckle at The Donald. He's blamed every thing from premature babies to swine flu on Obama.

Guess they couldn't come up with enough money promises to get those undecided and against to get on board.

Not weird to me. I understand why. It's just not something many are willing to admit.

I will try to find the link, but was reading this morning about a non partisan group called PRRI that does a periodic survey, and one of the questions they ask is if a voter feels a politician can commit acts of immorality in their personal life and still behave ethically and fulfill their duties in public life.

In 2011, white evangelical voters overwhelmingly said no (72%). Just 28% thought a privately immoral person could be publicly ethical. In 2016, right before the election? Just 30% said no, and 70% felt it was not an issue. It is a complete reversal, going from the demographic group that was least likely to support a candidate with private morals they disapproved of to the most likely.'

What changed? The situation. When it comes down to it, morals are not nearly as important as tribalism.

Somebody's in their feelings, today. How about the one week extension, eh?? Republican control at its finest. Can't agree on what time of the day it is, much less how to govern.

Yes, Orange Kist Stalin, being president is hard. But it's not so hard that he dare skip a trip to the links (probably headed there right now...again).

Donald Trump’s administration after 100 days: A second-rate salesman surrounded by con men and losers

Quote:
Saturday will mark the 100th year — sorry, the 100th day — of Donald Trump’s presidency. And what a white-knuckle ride it has been for the world.

The obsession with a president’s accomplishments in the first 100 days of a presidency is often maddening. But it can also be useful, in that the way a new administration handles all these challenges can set the tone for the next four to eight years and determine whether it will go down in history as a success or failure.

After 100 days, we can say this about Donald Trump and his team: History will not be kind.

At the rate Trump is going, the internet could run out of space, long before he leaves office, cataloging all his administration’s deficiencies as a functional entity, its destruction of governing norms and the hash it has made of both domestic and foreign policy. But two observations from the first 100 days stand out to me.

The first is the extent to which Trump’s struggles can be attributed to his pronounced tendency to staff his administration with mediocre, two-bit hustlers and con men whose careers indicate that they have a lot more luck than smarts or talent.

Quote:
The second observation that stands out about the president’s first 100 days in office is just how thoroughly his self-created image as the consummate deal-maker has been punctured and deflated.

For all the vaunted negotiating skill that Trump bragged about during his campaign, he has shown himself to be a paper tiger. There is a long list of deals and ultimatums from which Trump has backed down from at the first hint of pushback — Obamacare repeal, making Mexico pay for the wall, the nuclear deal with Iran, his rejections of NATO and the North American Free Trade Agreement and quite a few others.

That makes sense considering Trump is President now. They seem bent on trying to name drop Obama for his full term, whether it be long as his ties or short as his fingers (etc).

If he means sweaty nightmares that jolt you awake, maybe. He supposes too much. As if we enjoy Trump's existence enough to get that much pleasure by bashing him. We'd rather him out of there, Frijo. I've cracked up at Dubya's screwups and gibberish to the point that I'll credit him for being an unintentionally good comedian, but that wasn't quite enough to get over the fact that he, Cheney, and Rumsfeld were in charge. Not to mention the sidekick creeps like Rove; same kind that circle around Don.
