The US is deploying THAAD to S. Korea but Trump seems to think we are renting it to SK and he is expecting reimbursement. His ignorance knows no bounds...or maybe he is just confusing "the Wall" on our border with a missile defense system near the DMZ.

I think it was another dud, though.

I thought I read or heard the missile landed or exploded in or over the East Sea of Japan.

Now they are reporting it only went about 20 miles and exploded over land. So another dud. But that they went ahead and launched it is still the issue.

Too much saber rattling going on. I have a Korean friend who lives near Seoul. She has always said that S. Koreans are so used to N. Korean rhetoric they never really think about it but she is worried now.

Why now?

Because she doesn't trust Trump to behave like an adult. Fat Boy to the north and his predecessors have always been nutty but now she worries the US president is too inexperienced in world affairs and too reactionary himself to chill the situation out. She jokes about it but is also scared that this time something might actually happen. The US doesn't want NK to have nuclear missiles that can hit the US (obviously) but she is worried about her own country and what may happen in confronting NK. Or even if just a mistake happens and hostilities break out.

NYT Op-Ed: White House of Grifters

Quote:
They dress nice and probably smell good and most of them don’t even muss the furniture. Wealth gives them the patina of respectability — the American reflex of deference to the rich. But make no mistake: The Trump family and assorted cronies are using the highest office in the land to stuff their pockets.

The presidential sleaze involves everything from using public money to promote and enrich Trump properties to pay-to-play schemes that allow companies to buy influence at many levels. At its core is a nepotistic operation that puts family interests ahead of country.

Donald Trump’s presidency may look like a theater of incompetency: armada going in the wrong direction, forgetting what country he bombed but remembering what he had for dessert, major promises broken with a shrug.

But one thing Trump has accomplished in his first 100 days is ensuring that his family can use the vast reach of the federal government for private gain. By God, they seen their opportunities and they took ’em.

UK was given details of alleged contacts between Trump campaign and Moscow

Quote:
The UK government was given details last December of allegedly extensive contacts between the Trump campaign and Moscow, according to court papers.

Reports by Christopher Steele, a former MI6 officer, on possible collusion between the the Trump camp and the Kremlin are at the centre of a political storm in the US over Moscow’s role in getting Donald Trump elected.

It was not previously known that the UK intelligence services had also received the dossier but Steele confirmed in a court filing earlier this month that he handed a memorandum compiled in December to a “senior UK government national security official acting in his official capacity, on a confidential basis in hard copy form”.

Quote:
The December memo alleged that four Trump representatives travelled to Prague in August or September in 2016 for “secret discussions with Kremlin representatives and associated operators/hackers”, about how to pay hackers secretly for penetrating Democratic party computer systems and “contingency plans for covering up operations”.

Between March and September, the December memo alleges, the hackers used botnets and porn traffic to transmit viruses, plant bugs and steal data online from Democratic party leadership. Two of the hackers had been “recruited under duress by the FSB” the memo said. The hackers were paid by the Trump organisation, but were under the control of Vladimir Putin’s presidential administration.

Well son, I kinda like ya. If life last ya and death pass ya, I hope you're fortunate enough to reach this coveted plateau. Going for the century mark, I'm more the 3/4 of the way.

Sad thing is, I'm old enough for you to call son...

Yah, it is sad. Hope you're not offended.

Not at all. You know I love you.

N Korea is vital to U.S. security. It's location near the China border gives us a advantage.

I went to Korea when I was in the Navy. We weren't allowed to go ashore. If a sailor wandered into the wrong area it would be his ass. I don't know if that's still same.

Service men are restricted from going to some parts of Mexico. That has to hurt the economy of some cities. Sailors spent a bunch of money in TJ.

Tijuana is a walk across the border from San Diego. The clubs were off the charts. Dancing women on stage, no holds barred. I don't know if that's same.

I graduate 12th in my A school class in communications. That meant I could choose my station. I heard so many stories about TJ from vets it caused me to choose the West Coast and San Diego.

I think I might have graduated higher. I spent the last two weeks in the infirmary with a flu virus that almost killed me. I remember waking up and the corpsman, Smitty, saying "Welcome back to the land of the living" I had been out for three days.

The Supreme Being is good. I only went to have a check up, trying to get an excuse to opt out of duty. The last two weeks of boot camp are spent in the kitchen, mostly cleaning up. Had I not gone I might not be here to ink this post.

I love her, she's my Senator. I've seen her speak in person and she is even more impressive than her TV appearances indicate. But I have to tell you both the far left and the right hate her guts and are already spending tons of money to smear her. The far left bros never forgave her for staying neutral in the Bernie vs Hillary campaign. The right has a racist/sexist campaign against her around the faux Indian blood controversy.

You underestimate the enormous amount of misogyny that exists in the same electorate that voted for Trump. It wasn't just Hillary, the candidate. Just because it seems Warren is much more personable with less baggage, don't underestimate the ability of the left-right (with Russian hacking) coalition, along with money from Wall Street and the Koch Brothers to mount a serious smear campaign to take her down. It's actually already working in her home state of Massachusetts. She will be coming up for re-election and her poll numbers have been going DOWN. And not because of any of her political positions; it's from the ongoing, relentless smear campaign, starting at the top with Trump again referring to her using "Pocahontas." It's a racist/sexist slur against her which is also implying she's a liar. Just like he used CrookedHillary and LyingTed in an (unfortunately) effective way. They are trying to tank her popularity and it's already working.

Orange Hitler held a Nuremberg style rally tonight in front of his cult. They dutifully waved the signs the dictatorship provided, chanted lock-her-up, and cheered when he told them he was talking away their healthcare and making them pay for the wall.

I like Elizabeth Warren. But she's not going to beat Trump. He's got a 4 year head start on trashing her and believe me, that will stick. Assuming he makes it to the end of his term.

I know that I'm pretty late on Trump calling Elizabeth Warren "Pocahontas", but why is he still allowed to call her this? First of all, he's President of the United States. There's a certain amount of dignity and respect you have to treat your fellow colleagues with, even if you very well may hate their guts. Secondly, his name calling is disrespectful not only to women in general, but also the Native American community, which has been marginalized by the colonialists from Europe and United States since the 1500's. Trump making fun of a Native American descendant is another big slap to the face to that community.

Well, a LOT of voters don't give a sh** about any type of dignity and respect and etc etc. And that's the reason why she's done before she even gets started.

It's just disgusting, he's launching attacks on not only his potential opponent 3 years early, but also attacking his colleagues (not just Warren, but all of the Dems) that he has to work with. Then again, I guess he doesn't have to "work with" Dems since he has control of Congress and can sign executive orders whenever he wants to.

^^Proof the citizens cannot trust our government to protect us?

I still do not trust one cell in Comey.. he had to know with full confidence that his presser bringing "REOPENING THE CASE AGAINST HILLARY CLINTON'

I don't trust the whole group of them to actually be working in the best interests of the United States of America and to protect the citizens that pay their wages.

If you knew your President was put in Power by our Enemy how could you morally or physically defend him unless he and the others are put behind bars.

For sure, the Dems are going to need to come up with a better candidate than Pocahontas. She's more effective as an irritant in the Senate.
