So for the other candidates in the field with better judgment - you see them as more than a hero? Which?

Her hero status in my book is why I will never question her character. But I don't consider war experience a prerequisite for President.

Her past shows she has a knack for breaking from the party and being behind issues. And I think the Democratic party is focused on unity and trending more progressive (being ahead of the issues). She's a bad fit.
So that puts her at the bottom. The group of Dem candidates on the bottom of my list are the ones that can't answer "why should you specifically be President?". Alot of candidates haven't shown why they are uniquely qualified to lead our country now.

I am respectful of military service, especially in war time. But it doesn't impute good character. Lots of unsavory people join the military, just as they do other walks of life. And some people join for the job and the benefits, and get thrust into war. It's not really a true revelation of character either way really, beyond some contexts.

Deleted post about Trump pardons since VicX just beat me to it. But here's a NYT article about it https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/18/us/trump-pardons-war-crimes.html

from the article...
Quote:
Pardoning several accused and convicted war criminals at once, including some who have not yet gone to trial, has not been done in recent history, legal experts said. Some worried that it could erode the legitimacy of military law and undercut good order and discipline in the ranks......

.... A freewheeling pardon undermines that whole system,” said Gary Solis, a retired military judge and armor officer who served in Vietnam. “It raises the prospect in the minds of the troops that says, ‘Whatever we do, if we can get the folks back home behind us, maybe we can get let off.’”

I think it's safe to say that an impeachment inquiry is coming. Pelosi will succumb to the pressure.

Yep, but they're wrong about Dany though.

And Sansa! Can't have Northern independence if she's queen and there are still 7 kingdoms. She's the one who broke it off and made the North free. Anyway, back to the clip, since GoT digressions can go to infinity....Somehow, this clip made me respect and like these two even more.

It'll be great if it will actually accomplish something meaningful, because impeachment won't actually happen.

I just hope people are prepared for the potential results if it backfires.

Trump won't be removed. If the impeachment is close enough to the election it may make a difference. Con, it will give Trump a talking point.

Pelosi is adamant that she doesn’t want this to seem like a partisan activity, and her forbearance, as in the shutdown, has been designed to let Trump walk himself into the crosshairs. But you want to be sure, because the risk is not left or right leaning voters, but the apolitical, low information swing voters who are not nearly as concerned by these scandals and charges (for the same reason they aren’t particularly political leaning in the first place), and who become at best turned off and at worst annoyed by the proceedings. You want them to be in support. The rest is just theater to the bases.

Like I was saying.. we could get some help from people like Chelsea Manning

https://www.thedailybeast.com/rex-tillerson-secretly-meets-with-house-foreign-affairs-committee-to-talk-trump

Tillerson SNUCK IN to talk for SIX HOURS about Trump being infatuated with supporting Russia and not upsetting them.....

Quote:

Tillerson’s arrival at the Capitol was handled with extreme secrecy. No media advisories or press releases were sent out announcing his appearance. And he took a little-noticed route into the building in order to avoid being seen by members of the media.

Tillerson reached out to the committee and expressed a willingness to meet, a committee aide said. In a more than six-hour meeting, he told members and staffers that the Trump administration actively avoided confronting Russia about allegations of interference in the election in an effort to develop a solid relationship with the Kremlin, a committee aide told The Daily Beast.

We also know that children who are younger than the “target” audience for Arthur also watch the program.

Rolling Stone: Sanders, de Blasio, Gabbard Top Democrats’ Most-Disliked List. New poll reveals which candidates Democratic voters are ruling out

Quote:
A new poll finds that a trio of 2020 presidential candidates stand out — and not in a good way.

The survey, conducted by Data for Progress, offers a glimpse at the Democrats who are truly polarizing the party, by measuring which candidates voters are “Not Considering.” Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, and Hawaii Representative Tulsi Gabbard top the list of candidates Democratic voters have ruled out as they weigh their decision in the party’s primaries and caucuses.

Sanders, the independent Democratic Socialist, is the candidate with the highest NOPE factor. A full 28% of Democrats surveyed say they won’t vote for Bernie. Sanders at least scores well in the poll’s other dimension: 36% of party voters say they’re considering casting a ballot or caucusing for him. The same cannot be said of the other NOPE leaders.

a little good news for today...

Nevada lawmakers close to repealing tough abortion rules
by Ryan Tarinelli, Associated Press, Updated: May 21, 2019- 8:15 PM

Quote:
Nevada lawmakers are bucking a national trend of restrictive abortion laws by voting to repeal requirements that physicians document a pregnant woman’s marital status and tell her about the “emotional implications” of an abortion.

Democrats in the Assembly passed the bill in largely party-line vote on Tuesday, the same day protesters across the country decried actions in other statehouses that toughen abortion laws. Nevada has the first overall female-majority Legislature in the country.

"When the rest of the country may feel hopeless, may feel bleak, they should look to Nevada as the shining beacon that we are for women's rights," Democratic Sen. Yvanna Cancela told dozens of bill supporters who rallied outside the Nevada Legislature before the vote. Some supporters at the rally held pink signs that said "protect safe, legal abortion."

The legislation also removes a criminal penalty for anyone who supplies a woman with medication to induce an abortion without the advice of a physician. That criminal statute also extends to anyone who uses an "instrument" to terminate a pregnancy without the advice of a physician.

Pelosi says the president is engaged in a cover up. For impeachment fans, that’s an important statement.

Yeah, the strategy was to create not only the momentum, but the inevitable and non-partisan (bi partisan being nice but not likely) nature behind it. “We tried to simply hold hearings and know the facts without the assumption of impeachment, but he is clearly obstructing even the simplest of requests, and we have no choice”. Donald wants the fight, and instead of letting him choose the battleground, she’s walking him into hers. Still a dangerous game. But she’s very good at it even as her newer members continue to enjoy the fruits of her work while they savage the methods with which she delivers it.

Yep
Trying to takedown Trump at full strength is not a good plan
William Barr is one sick weirdo. "I'm not protecting Trump, I'm protecting the Presidency"
Still has all the Treasonous Republicans in his pocket

As hard as it is to watch a psycho criminal raping our country everyday
We must begin to show our Citizens who he really is
And how much money he has stolen from
You
Your children
Your family in general and the world

We Must work to make him feel fragile and make Republicans see that
Supporting Trump makes you guilty by association
Mueller is a political stooge too. "I don't want to look political"
Then try looking like a Good Citizen!

I am so (bleep) tired of NOBODY calling Trump out for his Budget Deficit. IF OBAMA ???

I will write the shows and ask why they are so cowardly

800 Billion borrowed from YOUR future country
One Trillion dollar tax cuts stolen from your future country

Incarcerate all of them. Especially Baron
Send him to Laura Ingram summer school for boys
ie Cages in Texas waiting to be a guinea pig

Did they just pick a random number to get the 3 names? Everybody has double digit dislike number, only 6 has under 18. Even Biden is at 20%. a little misleading

I think they were the three largest “no” vote getters before you just a huge field at 20-21% the larger take away is only seven candidates (including Bernie) have more people willing to consider them than not. And Elizabeth Warren is moving into second place.

Fwiw, Warren has found her voice. No, not the passion and the policy, that was always there in spades. But the command. She’s finally shedding the bob and weave around “Pocahontas” and all that entails. Like Biden, she’s not apologizing or engaging on it.
