Washington Post: Trump steps out of the White House and into a company in crisis
Quote: | Donald Trump returns to his company this week as it faces a deepening crisis, with key properties bleeding revenue and its bankers, lawyers and customers fleeing the company.
Financial disclosure forms, filed by the former president as he left office, revealed that his hotels, resorts and other properties had lost more than $120 million in revenue last year, as the pandemic forced long-term closures and kept customers home.
Those losses were worst in the places where Trump could least afford it: His Washington hotel, which has a $170 million loan outstanding, saw revenue drop more than 60 percent. His Doral resort in Miami — also carrying a huge debt load — saw a 44 percent drop.
On Thursday, the company’s troubles grew: One of its banks and one of its law firms said they would cut their ties with the Trump Organization. They are the latest in a string of vendors and customers who severed their relationships with the company after Jan. 6, when a mob of Trump supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol directly after he addressed them at a rally.
The picture emerging shows the inversion of Trump’s fortunes since 2015, when he entered politics promising to remake the country in the image of his growing, swaggering business.
Now, Trump returns to a business remade in the image of the country he led: beleaguered, indebted and toxically politicized. |

Trump helped put this country into economic chaos (due to his mishandling of the Covid crisis), and his businesses seem to have been bungled in a similar fashion.
He deserves this AND so much worse.

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.

I'm not familiar with tax laws but isn't that in Trump's ballpark? Can he file on the losses and make money. Hasn't he been doing it for years? Of course, Sam will get him on taxes anyway. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

My thinking Biden would have a honeymoon, in the beginning, may have been premature. Mitch hasn't let up one bit, he's still being B!tch McConnel. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Feel like we can talk about trump somewhat ‘normally’. He’s not the dominating news prime time cycle anymore, still a long way to go, lots of GOP trump heir spewing the same bs trying to inherit the base but at least it’s not top of the news... I am relieved, more than I thought I would be. |

Some of us live in Pollyanna Land (I think I am just down the road from you) and some of us live in DaMuleVille. It balances out. _________________ “There is always light if only we're brave enough to see it, if only we're brave enough to be it.” --Amanda Gorman |

So quiet and enjoyable too!
Hope his natural laziness takes over and he just golfs until the courts start hauling his fat ass in. _________________ “There is always light if only we're brave enough to see it, if only we're brave enough to be it.” --Amanda Gorman |

Especially when you have the ability to say you tried before moving on without them because this is going to happen either way. |

Repubs are all for unity...when they don't have the power to bulldoze their way into success.
Dems should try to work with the opposition but be willing to move without their help.
Elections have consequences, as do calls to insurrection by the last GOP prez. _________________ Garvey, Lopes, Cey, Russell |
