Move On, Nothing To See Here… Without Randle and Russell, this game felt over before it began. It certainly sucked the life out of the Lakers sails.

The Warriors chopped them to pieces, scoring a season-high 80 points in the first half. They had a franchise-record 47 assists on 53 field goals in the 149-106. “That’s one of the greatest stats I’ve ever seen,” Luke said. That's an insane stat.

There was just no resistance by the Lakers, but this Warriors team is also starting to roll like people thought they eventually would.

At halftime, Luke probably started coaching for the next game. They weren’t winning this one and needed to make some progress if they were going to compete better in a couple of days.

Games like this that’s all you can do.

“Let it hurt. Let it go. And get ready for Friday,” Luke said.

Ingram -- -- Welcome to what last year felt like on most nights…except much worse coaching and no hope it would improve. Ingram got the start with the injuries. Was he in over his head? No, he responded well. If there were bad moments it was only because the entire team was in over their heads tonight. Brandon stumbled out of the gates with some miscues, had Green yapping and trying to take it to him on D, was then subbed out, talked to by Luke and came back in with a little more purpose offensively. “He kind of settled into the game after that,” Luke said. He looked more like the No. 2 pick on that end. He was draining turnarounds, threes and even had a rare finish on a drive. (He still struggled badly in that department, unable to finish on several occasions.) Still, overall a game he can actually build a little confidence off of. There was lots to like with his perimeter game tonight. If there was one thing to pull away from this game, it might be Ingram’s continued growth. The Stats: He scored 16 points on 6-12 shooting (2-4 from three, 2-2 from the line) to go with 3 boards, 1 assist, 3 turnovers and no fouls in 31 minutes. He was a -21. The Action: He threw a pass away on the two-man game. He lost it again off the dribble next time down. He was blocked on a layup. He posted up and swished a long baseline turnaround. He posted up, pumped and drew contact for FTs, he made both. He swished a long wing jumper off the handoff (toe on the three line). Second Half: He attacked to his left and finished high off the glass on the layup. He sank an open wing three. He was blocked trying to attack Durant in transition. He sank a sideline three of a swing pass. He couldn’t finish on a drive. He didn’t hit rim on the breakaway and traveled catching his miss (got to go hard to the rack with all that length). He faced up and sank a wing jumper. He attacked and kicked to Metta for three. He didn’t get set from three like he should have on anticipation of a kickout and missed the three. Not close again on a three from the left side.

Mozgov -- -- Early foul trouble for Mozgov removed him from the equation in the first half after just 6 minutes and 3 fouls. That forced the Lakers to go with Robinson later in the second half, which hurt chemistry. For the Lakers to have any kind of chance, they couldn’t afford to also lose Mozgov to fouls. That’s essentially three starters out. In the second half, he was aggressive, scoring from the perimeter and everywhere else. That’s what they needed in the first half along with his paint protection (and just not being any of his replacements defensively) to help at least stay closer. Good second half in this one. Despite the blow out, he was only a -4. The Stats: He scored 12 points on 5-7 shooting (2-2 from the line) to go with 4 boards, 1 assist, 1 turnover and 5 fouls in 17 minutes. He was a -4. The Action: He missed a jumphook on the screen-roll. He missed a turnaround in the paint. He was called for a charge off ball (looked like a flop). He picked up his third foul midway through the first quarter and sat. Second Half: He sank a jumper from the top of the key. He sank a wing jumper next time down off the pick and pop. He drew FTs off an interior feed from Deng, he made both. He up-faked, attacked left and hit the runner. He dunked in a blocked Clarkson layup. He faced up and sank a wing jumper over a big. He drew a foul crashing the glass off the Clarkson handoff.

Young -- -- After his big night last night, not much to this one. He hit a few jumpers, but forced several. I think he was pressing a little without the playmakers in there. He also is dealing with his own health issues. “They wanted their revenge,” Nick said of the game. The Stats: He scored 8 points on 3-8 shooting (2-3 from three) to go with 1 board, 1 assist and 1 foul in 19 minutes. He was a -27. The Action: He worked off the high screen and sank the fade from 15 feet (he wanted the And-1). He sank a wing three in transition. He sank a sideline three off the swing pass. He missed a fading pull-up jumper. He missed a pull-up 15-footer. Second Half: He spun and missed an elbow jumper. He missed a three in transition. He attacked and missed a bad runner in a crowd (he wanted the foul).

Deng -- -- No Randle and no Russell, the Lakers moved Ingram into the starting SF, sliding Deng to the PF. What you worry a little about is the defense here, but this game had defensive issues from all five positions, so you can’t put much weight on anything on that end. Besides, he was covering Green which isn’t anything he shouldn’t be able to handle. So what did he look like offensively at the PF? The Warriors put Durant on him. He had a reasonable first half with some attacks to the rim. In the second half, he kind of looked like the usual Deng we’ve seen but Luke also kept the minutes short. The Stats: He scored 8 points on 3-9 shooting (0-1 from three, 2-2 from the line) to go with 7 boards, 2 assists and 1 foul in 26 minutes. He was a -11. The Action: He couldn’t finish a breakaway layup ahead of the pack. He attacked off the three line with a low dribble through defenders and scored the layup. Good up-fake to lose his man, he attacked and drew FTs in the paint, he made both. He missed a putback attempt. Way short on a three attempt. He missed a reverse, got it back and scored the putback. He scored a layup in transition. He had 8 points and 6 boards. Second Half: He iso’d and missed a step-back over Durant.

Calderon -- -- He scored the Lakers first 7 points, coming out aggressive. Unfortunately, we were getting beat like a drum on D. In the second half, he couldn’t hit anything. With Russell out for a while, we need to build some chemistry with the starters. “Whatever the coach asks of me, I’ll be ready for it,” Calderon said. The Stats: He scored 7 points on 3-7 shooting (1-3 from three) to go with 4 boards, 6 assists, 2 turnovers and 1 foul in 20 minutes. He was a -23. The Action: He passed up a good look at a three, but moved in and hit an 18-footer for the Lakers first score. He swished a wing jumper off the high screen in early offense next time down. He swished a wing three off a screen. He missed a pull-up 20-footer. He got into trouble and threw a pass away for points the other way. Second Half: He forced Durant into a turnover at midcourt. He missed a midrange jumper. He missed a three short. He hit Clarkson on an inbounds pass for a layup. He missed an open corner three.

Clarkson -- -- Pretty relentless attacking off the dribble throughout this game. I wish he was playmaking a little more because it does stagnate things some. He’s great at getting penetration. He had a couple forces in those situations, but I’d just like to see a few more set plays for him to find teammates. If you were thinking of moving him into the starting spot with Russell out, that’s the thing we’d need him to work on. The Stats: He scored 16 points on 7-16 shooting (0-2 from three, 2-3 from the line) to go with 3 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 turnover and 2 fouls in 29 minutes. He was a -20. The Action: He was standing on the sideline when he took a pass, turnover. He missed an elbow pull-up. He missed a tech FT, grrrr. He missed a floater in transition. He was fouled several times on his way to the hoop for FTs, he made both. He iso’d and missed a drive, too off balance. Quick burst of speed to his left to get into the middle and he scored a layup. He missed a 20-footer somewhat forced. He sank a runner off the high screen. He missed a three. Second Half: He took an inbounds pass and scored a layup while still in air after the catch. He sank a 17-footer on a pull-back dribble. He attacked a crowd and was blocked, Mozgov cleaned up the penetration. He attacked from the wing, elevated and scored the layup over the big. He missed a floater off a handoff (Mozgov drew a foul crashing). He hit the side of the backboard on a three attempt, uggh. He probed a crowd and swished a floater. He missed a long floater, no ball movement.

Williams -- -- His defense may thrive a little more when the game is tight. Getting our butt kick did not help him lock in on that end of the floor. There was a stretch to open the fourth quarter where the Lakers had a run. In any other game this season, that would have been enough for the second unit to get the team hyped up and locked in. Tonight? You’re still down 20. The Stats: He scored 16 points on 6-11 shooting (1-2 from three, 3-5 from the line) to go with 2 assists, 1 steal, 2 turnovers and 1 foul in 22 minutes. He was a -10. The Action: He attacked in early offense and missed the layup. He attacked and couldn’t finish a layup. He then ball-watched on the other end to give up points. Nice challenge on Klay to get a stop on a breakaway. He attacked and couldn’t finish another layup. Quick attack in transition and this time he finished the layup. He crossed over Green and hit a tough drifting floater. Second Half: He gave up a layup. He drew FTs on the perimeter, he made one. He dropped to the level of the ball to swipe a pass, but then couldn’t connect with Nance in transition for a turnover. Sweet behind-the-back cross-over to lose a man and he scored a layup. He attacked off the three line, was hacked but somehow threw it in as he stumbled to the floor, he made the FT. He sank a wing three next time down. He missed a wing three moving to his left. He cut backdoor and Metta found him for the floater (they gave it up on the other end with some confused D). He drew FTs on a reach as he attacked, he made one. He missed a jumper off an inbounds.

Nance -- -- Quiet game from Nance. In fact, I had no notes for him in the second half which is not what you want to see. In the old days, our bigs might have taken some hard fouls and mixed things up physical with an opponent pouring it on. Randle might be the only guy to do that (maybe Metta), but our team is almost too nice. The Stats: He scored 4 points on 1-2 shooting (2-2 from the line) to go with 7 boards, 1 assist, 1 block, 1 turnover and 4 fouls in 18 minutes. He was a -14. The Action: He blocked Green in transition to get a stop. He swished a long baseline jumper. He was fouled on a high-low from Black, he made both FTs. He missed a forced 15-footer trying to beat the shotclock. He took his eye off a pass, unforced turnover. Second Half: Nothing to report.

Black -- -- He really struggled to finish around the rim. There was just a lot of chippies that weren’t going in. Credit the Warriors for never stop challenging (unlike us), but Tarik blew more than a few he should have had. The Stats: He scored 9 points on 2-9 shooting (0-1 from three, 5-6 from the line) to go with 5 boards, 1 steal and 4 fouls in 12 minutes. He was a -18. The Action: He couldn’t finish a drive with is left. He choked a layup against a smaller man. He got his man sealed under the hoop, took the pass, missed, got it back and was fouled, he made both FTs. He choked another layup on the screen-roll (got to finish that one). He drew FTs on a throwdown attempt over Durant, he made one. He hit Nance on the high-low for FTs. Second Half: He couldn’t slam down a lob pass. He slipped, kept his pivot anchored and hit the jumphook. He drew FTs on a dunk attempt off the screen-roll. He missed an open 18-footer. He faced up and hit a 15-footer.

Huertas -- -- They brought him in to start the fourth. I almost think we should try starting him with both Randle/Russell out. We just don’t have enough playmaking. Ingram helps and Calderon has a better shot, but I wouldn’t mind trying it. Still, it’s good to get Calderon the time with the starters to build chemistry. The Stats: He scored 4 points on 2-4 shooting to go with 1 board, 3 assists, 1 steal and no fouls in 8 minutes. He was a -6. The Action: He did not play in the first half. Second Half: He found Clarkson cutting on the first possession for layup. Not close on a runner. He attacked and scored the layup. He worked behind a screen and hit the pull-up 15 footer. He missed a short runner and wanted the foul.

Robinson -- -- He came in for Nance to run at the C spot with Mozgov done early in the first half with three fouls. Just a big dropoff between those two. Really not a good game on either end. If you are going to get minutes, you’ve got to make the most of them. He kind of put the “garbage” into garbage time tonight. The Stats: He didn’t score on 0-4 shooting to go with 1 board, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 turnover and 3 fouls in 8 minutes. The Action: He took an elbow to the face for an offensive foul and stop. He up-faked and missed a wild drive. He was picked trying to create against the shotclock. He missed a layup on a drive. Second Half: He missed a long jumper. He gave up a putback jam. He took contact on a drive and missed. Another breakdown on D.

World Peace -- -- He came in early and hit his first three of the season. Good form and everything. He nailed another one later. Insanity. The Stats: He scored 6 points on 2-4 shooting from three to go with 1 board, 2 assists and 3 fouls in 11 minutes. He was a -6. The Action: He swished a wing three on a swing pass. He missed a wing three. He found Nance for a baseline jumper. Second Half: He hit Lou backdooring his man for a score. He sank a wing three off a kickout from Ingram. He missed a corner three.

Walton -- -- Welcome back to Oracle. Luke got a nice applause and extended moment in the spotlight prior to the game, then the beatdown… The Lakers quickly trailed 10-4 and Luke called a timeout. Warriors trying to play aggressive on D like they did in the second half of our last game. Steph and Klay hitting on offense… Ingram out for Metta. Luke talking with him on the sideline after a couple turnovers… Black in for Mozgov who had three fouls with 6:36 left… Lou and Nance in for Deng and Calderon, Lakers down 6… Clarkson in for Young… Ingram back in for Metta, Lakers down 8… Warriors went on another run, Lakers down big… Deng back on for Black… The Lakers trailed 41-26 after the first quarter. No resistance… Robinson in for Nance with 7:40 left, Lakers down 13… Young in for Clarkson down 14… Calderon back in for Lou to go with Nance, Robinson, Young and Ingram… More subs as the Warriors starters continue pounding on the Lakers… The Lakers trailed 80-49 at the half. The Warriors had 26 assists on 62% shooting… Clarkson in for Young early in the third… Nance in for Deng… The Lakers trailed 106-78 after three… Black, Deng, Clarkson, Williams, Huertas lineup. They cut it to 20 after a minute and a half. Then gave up some easy ones and Luke called a timeout… Metta back in for Deng out of that… Extended garbage time… The Warriors shot 62% for the game…

DB - "Welcome to what last year felt like on most nights…except much worse coaching and no hope it would improve."

True words were never spoken. No one would have blamed yah for taking a break for that shellacking we took.

Thanks for these TnR's DB and happy Thanksgiving to you and the rest of LG!

Ouch!

I did not like Walton's subs this time. Why is Robinson out there and not Zubac? Why not give Nance a start?
Walton is like Byron playing guys out of their positions. I think that is hurting the team.

Thanks DB agreed on all fronts.

Btw for folks who are still disappointed- yes this was a tough game to watch but this one was pretty predictable: championship caliber team that was beaten by a young squad by 20 previously will want payback. Take out randle (who was flying all over the place in their first matchup) and Russell...yea...forgettaboutit.

5 of next 6 games: warriors, hawks, bulls, raptors, grizzlies.

Hard for me to predict what happens without dlo (and I'm assuming Randle plays). I'll take 3-3.

Expected, this loss doesn't bother me. Given the circumstances, we probably would've lost even at full strength. We just would've lost by considerably less (~10-15 pts).

Thanks DB. You are the best. Its bad enough you have to take time away from the family to write so much detail every game. Its must be even worse for you when you have to write about games where we play like garbage. Happy Thanksgiving!

I knew we were in trouble before the game when I watched Ingram on the court waiting for tip off yawning. Whole team looked tired.
