From Vaheblings at CL:

Quote:
Power 106's sports guy: Jeff Garcia just reported that he found out through a source that the Lakers offered Deaven George and Slava to the Knicks for Channing Fry and another player. And most likely draft picks. My guess is that they offered to take a player with a contract and Fry for our expiring contracts.

Good point. However, George and Medvedenko....how stupid can Isiah be? Not that stupid, for sure.

If this is true Kupkake is going to lose respect around the league. You don't offer day old trash for a diamond in the rough. This is disrespectful and a waste of time. I really hope this is not true. Can Kupkake be that dumb? No wonder his food is spoiling, he can't close anything.

I don't know. Isiah is pretty dumb. Good first offer. Now offer George, Luke, and Miami's pick for Frye and Crawford.

If he is looking for capspace this makes a little more sense. The Knicks get expiring contracts and the other player in the deal thats packaged with Frye would have a bad contract.

Jeff Garcia said that? Smells like a rat, cause it looks like a rat. Sorry, anyway, that says more about Mitch's sad attempt at a low ball offer...than it says about the Lakers being open to a serious trade. Maybe that's the opener for a deal for Robinson or Lee....who knows.

this is funny if indeed true ...well, at least Mitch tried...afterall, that's all he can do.

btw, there's some sense to this...NY might be looking to dump one of their bad contracts, LA offered our ending contracts but Mitch tried to pull a fast one by asking to include Frye in the deal. I hope Mitch gets it done.

haha if mitch can get crawford and frye for george and slava, hell be my hero.

Also to note, maybe this has some truth to it....According to emplay, Lakers made Brown's 3rd year guranteed. Taking back a big contract that runs through 07 may explain that.......

Well....it's Kupchak. He might actually have enough guts to offer that to NY...and Isiah might be stupid enough to take it.

this kind of reminds me when Isaiah offered Penny Hardway for Pau Gasol last season.

Isiah and Mitch are equally clueless.

The difference is, Isiah is making deals, Mitch is not. Pick your poison.

Damn that Kupchak. If he offered Bynum for Frye, message board posters wouldn't be laughing at the offer. Isn't that what matters?

On a serious note, why not low-ball. If the radio report is correct (which in most likelihood it isn't), a low-ball offer is in order. Frye is probably getting shopped as Isiah is seriously considering Kenyon Martin. Devean is a player that Larry Brown would probably want.
