If we end up taking care of the average teams this month, I would say it's time to give us a chance.. I will wait to see how the Lakers take care of the teams like the

Sixers
Miami
Orlando

And others.

1. Make the playoffs
2. Beat the Warriors in the 1st round. Create the biggest upset in Sports history since USA beating Russia.
3. Profit!

Those are terrible odds. If we played this season 75 times we would NOT win a championship more than likely. Even if we made the playoffs beating 4 of these teams 4 out of 7 times in a series

GS
Clips
SA
Cleveland

Is not going to happen 1 in 75 times. Assuming we have a 30% chance to win each series we would only win 8 times out of a 1000. Add in the fact that our playoff chances at most are 50% you are at 4 times of 1000.

250-1 is closer to the real number. 75-1 is a moneymaker for Vegas as I don't believe those odds are paramutual.

If Vegas odds factor in that the Lakers can make trades that might make them a darkhorse contender, then 75:1 isn't that unreasonable.

Like yes, 75:1 with this roster is overselling them. But what if the Lakers get Boogie for relatively cheap (Sac is whack) and then trade for Wall or some other star in a bad situation with their cheap, young talent?

The point of the odds isn't actually to predict who will win.

It's designed to get people to spread their bets around evenly so no matter which team wins, Vegas makes a profit.

The Lakers have a lot of fans who will bet on them, so that causes the odds to be lower than they should be by logic.

Some of you forget the way that Vegas odds work, and correspondingly, why those odds change.

1. Before the season starts, Vegas books do set the odds based on what they think will happen.

2. Once public betting begins, the odds are adjusted up/down to "balance the money." This means that Vegas adjusts the odds based on how the general public is actually placing bets. It's no longer set based on what the Vegas Books think will happen - it's entirely based on who the public is actually betting on. FYI: "Balancing the money" is simply changing the odds so that no matter if the Lakers win or lose, they book is NOT out of pocket on bets. Bets FOR the Lakers & AGAINST the Lakers are equally balanced dollar wise (once odds are accounted for).

the reason that the Lakers recently improved from 200-1 up to 75-1 is that the general public got excited about the Lakers mini-run and started placing bets on the Lakers (regardless of how completely unlikely a Lakers championship is). Vegas responds to this influx of bets (however ridiculous those bets are) by changing the odds to balance the money.

Even if true, it speaks a lot of volume that people are betting on the Lakers. those people likely see enough in this team to place there bet on them. I don't think a lot of people will bet on the Clippers cause of there bad karma.

I think that if they maintain this pace they're going 8th or 9th seed. Making the playoffs would be a gigantic leap from recent years. It's a first round exit but who cares, it would be major improvement. Coach Luke is very impressive

What it speaks to is that fans often bet with their hearts, and not with their heads. Which is one of the reasons Las Vegas casino's make so much money.

And, FYI: The current Vegas odds on the Clippers is 12-1. Meaning, a lot of money is being bet on them to win it all
12-1 odds are a lot narrower than 75-1 that LAL currently has.
