This loss is on having a butt load of injuries right now. So what if Luke played MWP too much. The fact that the Lakers stayed this close without DLO, Nance, Young, Calderon, with Mozgov and Black also getting hurt, is surprising. Sucks to have that many key players out. Chill.

MWP was -26 in 11 minutes and LA lost by 5. That's on Luke.

That's why I think giving that roster spot to MWP just makes no sense. People can say the Lakers don't need any more young players, but I'd rather use that last spot to try out guys on 10 day deals and see if you can find someone that can click. There's gotta be 20 guys in the D League worth giving a shot too over MWP just to see what they got.

MWP brings nothing to the team. Nothing.

Well in January you can use a roster spot to sign 10-day contracts.

Not trying to pick a fight here but come on

THis team was god aweful last year

Now they are down like....7 players or something like that? Randal isnt even healthy.....Marcelo and Metta should NEVER see the court like.....ever but we are playing them meaningful minutes

And people are blaming lineups on loss? We have to actually match talent with the teams we are playing against right? Its a miracle we didnt get blown out

Yeah, it's a bummer that it's the vets that keep us afloat.
I appreciate the fight but I'd rather see our younguns step up a little.

Exactly. Especially with the starting lineup we came out with tonight...that's Jules opportunity to be the man. We need Russell back asap

Lets put this in historical context. There are only a few teams in NBA history who know what the non-DLO Lakers are going through right now....

The Lakers when Magic announced he was HIV positive
The Lakers when Kobe injured his Achilles
The Bulls when Jordan left to play baseball

When DLO comes back. everything will be fine and the Lakers will be championship contenders again!

Lakers are just falling back down to Earth.....they were playing far above what people expected them early in the season. I think even with these recent setbacks they will still finish with a much improved record and far above what anybody expected of them this season.

Forcing the issue is the opposite of what you want Randle to do.

I'm in "throw my hands up" mode. More injuries. I'm fine with Luke, yeah huertas sucks and so does MWP, Ingram can't hit a shot and deng can't figure out where 3" of his vert went over one summer. With all that, these injuries are devastating. The guys are competing, but we had subpar talent overall before the injuries...what's left healthy on our roster now is down in the philly/Brooklyn realm. What is Luke supposed to do?

Guess we will just ride out what appears to be the beginning of a long dry spell due to injury. Hopefully when dlo, nick and Larry all come back we can look more coherent. Right now, I don't think we have enough to win any more than a game or two over the next 10.

Falling back to earth would require everyone else being healthy, not 5 pieces being injured and other teams barely squeaking out wins vs us.

Walton said he wanted to try an all switching starting lineup to turn Jazz into more of an iso team, kinda sorta worked in 1st ish

I mean, the first quarter ended tied. But anyone could see that MWP didn't fit with the pace of the NBA game. That's why he rode with the lineup in the 3rd quarter, and he switched to starters after three minutes.

He's quoted as saying he's "going back to the drawing board" for the next starting lineup... at least the guy makes changes

But MWP can't start again, and it was a mistake to start him.

The interview you wish you were seeing:

Marcello, "why did you lose"?

"Dude, we were playing Metta AND Deng at the same time, that's A LOT to overcome..."

For real. Luke is starting 3rd stringers yo lol

The team's health is falling back to earth like a meteor though. Too bad Vitti isn't around to break out the leeches

Seriously bro? DLO isn't even on Nick Van Excel's level yet. Give me a break. He's not even the best talent on the team.

It's not like teams are gameplanning to stop Randle...I Think it's time to lower expectations for Randle.

They do. And they want to speed him up as much as possible.

Randle playing a controlled pace is hard to stop. Randle trying to force the issue on offense and being impatient is much easier to deal with.

That's why when Luke slowed him down, he had a much better 2nd half after a terrible 1st.

Ouch - good question. I would like to see them pull Zubac up for just a game or two.

Ironically dlos career shooting stats are almost identical to van exels for his career...van exel had more assists.

They are actually pretty similar in attitude and demeanor too...kind of cocky in a way that's slightly irritating. Van exel had more fire and fight to him, dlo is a lot smoother and will end up being a superior shooter, his mechanics are much purer. Interesting that you brought him up tho...

Well, we do not have a roster spot unless somebody gets cut. Maybe MWP. That does not make sense either, does it? If the plan is to "reward" MWP with player salary which is much higher than coach salary, then it might make sense. It is not like short-lease contributors are available out there though.
