Regardless of what happens on draft day I hope this stupid tank thread we had for the last 4 seasons doesn't come back for a long time. I can't believe how low this franchise has gotten. It's a disgrace. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.

As fans there isn't much to look forward to if the team is just generally crappy so threads like this exist. If they lose pick they'll be another for 2018. All the more reason to keep it now.

If we keep the pick yes, if we don't it's coming back
I guess my question was answered...If we lose pick...we go all in one more time for the final tank?? _________________ True Laker fan from the state of Michigan! You know you're a true fan when physical altercations take place involving your team in discussions...Yeah man...True fanimal

Not immediately. We do the best we can during the off season, and if we are not doing very well around the ASB, MAYBE we think about tanking. But this is a very high stakes year for the tank. Either get in the top 3 and keep 2 draft picks, or get out of the top 3 and lose 2 draft picks. Next year we would be keeping the pick either way, just lower position, so the stakes are lower. But I still think they try to win until at least the ASB.

If we get to keep our pick this draft I think we will be good for awhile. At the least we will have a 1 year memorandum on the tank thread because we won't have a pick next year. However if come 2018-2019 we are in a situation where we are even considering tanking then the Front Office has not done their job. Even if we were to score the top pick in the draft this season, I don't expect us to be competing for titles by 2018-2019, but we definitely should not be in a position where we are close enough to being one of the worst teams in the league where we are hoping for a tank.
We obviously need all the talent/assets we can acquire, and a top 3 pick goes a long way towards that.
Secondarily the additional benefit is that we will have no incentive to tank any further. These last 4 seasons have just been brutal and I can't wait when the whole fanbase is reunited towards cheering for wins again. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

Even more of a reason to be in favor of sitting JC and DLO now
Tankathon is bad for your health. Studies show it can triple likelihood of heart failure in Laker fans _________________ Austin Reaves

End tanking is simple, if only NBA wants to.
No lottery, 1st pick goes to non-playoff team with the best record, and so on.
Worst NBA team will get 14th pick.
Nothing changes for playoff teams (get picks 15 to 30 as now).
All teams will have to try winning all games they can, instead of trying to lose.

Well, then what's the incentive for an 8 seed facing almost certain first round elimination to not intentionally lose a few more games to get the #1 pick? _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

Yeah, I am all for getting rid of tanking but these ideas are not so great.
The best idea would be to loosen up free-agency again and limit the kind of protections that can be included when you trade draft picks. _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss

Then you'll just have teams tanking to drop from the 8th seed to the 9th seed

He was headed in the right direction. Just remove the disproportionate odds and have everyone who misses the playoffs have equal probability. That way there is no incentive to be the losingest team. Those on the bubble will still likely want to get to the playoffs for the extra revenue and team growth.
